  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

$199 Director's wireless monitor

Excellent news - this has got to push the price of quality HD wireless down. OK limited range, but almost imperceptible lag, it makes the price of pro competitors look a little over the top!

Looks cool! However, 30 ft won't work for me 50% of the time, but it will be the perfect solution for many. Technology is cool :)

Well, just a guess, but the model number is EW2000-NA . This would suggest that they may have a pal version, but my 5 second googling turned up goose eggs - I'll have a look later tonight

Would Red D-tap work? Which cables would be needed?
Rob I thought you did not want to bother with consumer products in your professional kit (I couldn't resist):reddevil:
On a serious note you need 5v power as supplied by USB. 12V would fry this thing instantly

12v to 5v is a simple dc stepper.

about 20 minutes to make or buy and adapt.

I use a 12V to 7.2 V stepper in my wireless POV rig for the camera.
Also 12V to 5 V for video glasses.
Recorder/transmitter(s)/downconverter are all 12v

As Kwan mentioned the wireless works great with HDMI.
Yes 12v to 5v is straight forward
In fact I'm putting together the self powered kit as I'm writing this.

No, I just don't want to bother with those specific consumer products that do not work as well and compromise the shots.

To Kwan:

So you then cut the wires on both ends and taped them together?

I assume that D-tap is standard, so it would work on my Red Mount too?
