IMHO - A movie made in 2009 should not have stock footage from the downtown LA of the 1980's. The first Interstate building changed names many years ago, and a few new building popped up since then. If they spend all this money on a movie, and it's filmed in LA, why can't they just take a 5 second clip of modern day downtown LA? Do they really save that much money on a multi-million dollar movie?

While I'm at it. I know that license plates and phone numbers are supposed to have privacy protection. But don't most people know the license plate numbering system? Maybe I'm just annoyed at this in almost every movie I see, but license plates such as 1NGB287 are from the 80's and don't belong on a 2009 Prius. Now we're at 6GGG111 range. Maybe 99.9% of the viewers don't care :)

Sorry about this. Had to get it off my chest.

I think it's pretty universal that it's a terrible movie. What irks me more is that the film is supposedly set in Sacramento...(which is exciting because I'm from Sacramento) but they clearly failed at that. Then again, I suppose they can't really do on-location shooting all the time.

"It was "The Ugly Truth." I see this type of stuff all the time though. "

You mean little trivial details that are completely irrelevant to the story?

Hi. I'm NOT griping about why they used 80's stock footage. What I'm trying to learn is, if they spend so much money on a movie, is it really that big of a deal to just shoot a 10 second scene of downtown LA?

They likely didn't know they would need the shot until they were deep in editing. At that point its easier to grab some stock footage than assemble a second unit team to go and grab shots, no? I dont see a great crime in that.

Guess what- 99.99% of the rest of the world doesn't realize or care about that sorta continuity mistake. :iamwithstupid:
