Hypothetical set up

I have a 12" ET Arri dovetail, and am considering using a Cooke 18-100mm T3 zoom on the scarlet

It's probably the biggest zoom i'll end up using possibly along with a Angenieux HR 17-102mm T2.9

I also have the a RED Cradle attached to a universal mount right at the rear of the rods

I thought 18" rods would be sufficient, but now i'm not so sure and thinking 24" just in case?????????

Has anyone ever used these lenses before??? I'd Greatly appreciate your suggestions

Regards,
Dean

Yeah its more just to accommodate any longer lenses i'll potentially think of using

The Scarlet is so small, that with 18" rods, you will essentially have 12" of rod sticking out the front of the camera. Look up the length of the lenses you think you will use and if they are longer than a foot, then you know you need to step up to 24" rods. I personally wouldn't want to have to carry around 24" rods if I didn't have to.

Just an FYI, You may have issues supporting lenses like the Cooke 18-100 with LW15mm rods due to clearance issues with the large diameter of the lens depending on your setup.
I use 19mm rods to mount the lens support to, which is mounted under my 24" 15mm rods. They are just long enough to mount a matte box to.

Good Luck!

Dave

Definitely haven't considered anything outside of 19mm, And i have plenty of rear clearance using a APU-AB battery plate on the brain module ( no red bricks and cradles for me)
