18-85mm F2.8 new lens

The 18-85 T2.9 RPZ covers full 4K on a RED ONE, about 4.75K on the new S35 Mysterium-X and about 4.5K on the up-coming FF35 Mysterium Monstro sensors. This is as good (or better) than any available cine zoom of this type. Jim

Thank you for the official verdict, Jim. You are right, other than the two Angenieux Optimo DP "Rouge" lenses there are no cine zooms in the market that claim to cover more than 31mm image circle. And they are not compatible with mirror-shuttered film cameras.

Considering the price/performance/functionality of the RED 18-85mm, there are really NO competitors. I guess I'd still take delivery and hopefully trade up when such products come out.

By the way, any chance the 18-85 can be upgraded to cover 32mm image circle in the future?

Au contrare Mon Frare, I got my Fuji HD lens for for a few grand off the list.
It was not a 86,000 dollar lens but a good deal non the less.

the little HD lenses they do, but try to get a discount on their 5x6 or 10x10.

yeah, i have a few HD fujinons also, and i definitively did not pay list, but the discount on their E series zoom lenses is negligible, similar to the discounts you can get on the Angeneiux Optimos these days.
