I have a video this Wednesday. Like most music videos, I'll have to do a bit of slo-mo.

Can these lenses cover 2k? Also, does anyone have experience with this and can tell me of any other issues I may run into (vignetting, etc):

Canon 8-64
Canon 7-63
Canon 11-160
9.5mm Superspeed
12mm Superspeed
8mm Standard

They all cover just fine. The RED at 2K is smaller than regular 16mm, so even that 8mm standard will cover no problem.

try to use super 16 instead.
You'll be able shoot in 3K in most part and get crisper image.
Canon zoom is great, so is the zeiss super, 12mm and up.

The 4K width of the 4.5K sensor is 22.11mm wide, so the 2K width is half that, 11.055mm wide.

16mm is 10.26mm wide but I suspect most 16mm lenses will cover 2K, 11mm isn't much more than 10.26mm.

Super-16 is 12.52mm wide.

Mitch, you're probably thinking that 2/3" is smaller than regular 16mm.

David, don't just go by width. The diagonal is what's important as this defines the necessary image circle. RED 2K may be wider than 16mm but it is also shorter. 16mm is still bigger so lenses designed for 16mm will cover RED 2K.

Thanks, Mitch and Steve.

This should be fun. We're shooting mostly 4k except for overcranked. Any pointers for getting the best match. It's for broadcast and we're delivering 1080.

Although it may vignette, I think you will be able to get useful footage from it and should be able to work around. Bring a wide prime if you need those shots. Have a safe trip Ken.

2K on the Red really needs great glass to look good. Those Canon Super 16 zooms have worked great for me. Have not tried the others in your list. I have had good results with the Canons but I try not to shoot those lenses wide open. Have fun.

Thanks again, Steve, but I am just driving over to the next town over to put this lens on a colleagues Red One. I didn't mean to imply that I know how to shoot anything other than a film test...because I don't...I just want to represent the item correctly when it goes up for sale.

Angenieux 12-120mm does vignette some at the wider end of the lens. I have not tried the Canon 7-56 since I haven't had one in my hands in a while.

This is true. The 15-150mm version of the lens does cover S16 or so I've been told.

Chuck, I can confirm that the 15-150mm Angenieux does indeed cover super 16mm and will work on the Red camera for 2k. This lens was made originally for the ancient Vidicon cameras. BTW, it can be converted to PL mount fairly easily.

Steve, one last question, have you tried the older 8mm Zeiss lenses on your Red camera? I was under the impression that only the Optar 8mm covers.

TIA

Which older one are you referring to. The 8mm T2.1 mk2? or the older standard mount ones. I have checked the T2.1 MK2 and it did cover. Very sharp too. I have a couple available if anyone is interested.

Yeah that Angenieux 5.9 was a marvel for it's day. Decent speed and very litttle rectilinear distortion. Sharp too.
