  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

16Bit Redcode RGB

Yuval, thanks alot for your kind comment. At this part of world everything delivered to broadcasting companies is 25p possibly embedded as 50i. Any idea how good Adobe Soundbooth (the former Adobe Audition) is in the audio conversion?

I believe it will be comparable to the HDLink conversion.
For TV broadcasting it should be fine to do it through HDLink.

For a theatrical release or for DVD mixed at 5.1 I'd assume that a more high-end audio mixing process would be a good idea. If such a seperate high-end process is expected to take place, then leave the pitch shifting for the audio people to do. Since the speed difference between 24p and 25p is minor, the quality of the pitch-shifting algoritm is less critical. I personally do hear the difference, but most probably won't.

Cheers,

Yuval

I read somewhere that when converting 24p to 25p, drop the pitch on your audio by 4% and that should do it. Or just live with the slightly higher pitched voices.

That's what we've been talking about. It was about how to perform that 4% of pitch shifting (in order to maintain the original pitch in spite of the change of playback speed). If you're only converting dialogue (production sound) it's not such a big problem, but if you're converting the final mix or any complex audio material, it gets tricky unless you use a really good tool.
