Someone was advertising 15mm Universal Mounts for the RED camera at the same price as the RED's own 19mm version... with delivery immediately after NAB.

Is this still happening? I guess many people would be interested.

Thanks!

Hi Eastco,

Although the guys at Element Technica are busy perfecting a "special" 15mm universal mount that mounts and unmounts without sliding... their website offers up an alternative by using the 15mm Top Rod Mount. Quote as follows... "They are light weight and simple enough that many of our customers have ordered extra to use as 15mm universal mounts for battery and cradle mounting on a 15mm system."

Here is a link. I hope this helps. This is what I am doing to get rolling...

That was me who was looking at having them made. Would've been the same price as the RED u-mount, but made to fit 15mm offset rods.

I decided not to pursue manufacturing them. ...Found general interest to be pretty low and a few equivalent solutions already exist. Yes, the ET top mount can work as a universal mount, it's not as elegant, but it works. Ugrip makes excellent u-mounts in various sizes and spacing options. Zacuto also has some bridge mounts that may fit your needs.

Ugrip makes a nice light weight 15mm option, but alas not studio.

ET makes a top mount that can be used but really needs a secound row of threads tapped.

Personally we are making due with the ET top mount but it is far from ideal.

The ET is great as a top mount... however, as a "universal adapter", it's almost twice as expensive as the other options and it has only a single row of tapped holes... not sure if this is the safest way to mount the RED cradle, with drive and battery.

A 15mm version of RED's universal mount at the same price would be great.

I'm looking into ugrip's unit right now... can you mount the cradle on it?

EDIT: The ugrip is lightweight? That means not suitable for 15mm rods distanced at 100mm (studio).

ET is making 15mm universal adapters. Not sure on their release date. Give them a buzz...
