Hey, first 'new thread' here, I know this has likely been answered but I have been unable to find an answer that's definite: is there a plate that has the 15mm rails high enough to attach a mattebox and ff at the appropriate height of the lens on scarlet/epic, BUT still allow to attach a manfrotto standard sized quick release plate (so i can use my existing tripod and shoulder mount setups)?

Sebastian mentioned an Arri plate in his quick Cinema5D video review, but I cannot find where it is sold or where i can find more information, also I did see Phils DIY solution on the "skully" thread, but I'm looking for something more longterm in design. Theres also the DSMC modular plate assault pack in the Red Store, but from the looks of it, it might be difficult to mount to a 501hdv head. Is there a cheaper solution than $400?

Anyways, thanks in advance!
Kiel

Awesome thanks Brandon, I did come across this a couple weeks ago when researching V-mount plates.... but wasnt sure if it was what I was looking for, because i couldnt see the bottom. I just did a search and came across this video (if anyone else is interested): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b_aGN80TROw where i could see all angles of the riser and it was reassuring. Thanks again.

Got these from eBay along with a really nice rod mounted top handle.. (go easy on the flaming for the Chinese recommendation) The cage, top handle and Carbon fiber rods from these guys are of outstanding quality. Put these together with some great stuff from Wooden Camera and have a killer rig as a result. I put 40 lbs of weights on the WC riser plate for test purposes on a fully loaded rig and it is rock solid. The rod mounted top handle slides on rails and is really nice for balancing the load as opposed to a fixed mounted top handle. I did get the WC "Cheese" side handle... extremely well made and robust as hell!

Just ordered their little plate and rods riser on the offchance it all does the job it looks like it might, and before suddenly they hike its price x 500%. ;)

I still have a Shoot 35 quick release mount and rails for my Panasonic AF101 which I was going to sell but theoretically I can attach that scarlet plate to the AF one, whichi I currently use for should support and front handles. Will report back. Thanks for the link.

nice really liking the look of the build quality/value of that dslr rig and I might pick up that $159 shoulder pad for my rails. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pro-Shoulde...372?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3cbef59d3c

But looking at the plate and rod bracket+baseplate http://www.ebay.com/itm/COOLLCD-Tri...595?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a6e157e9b I believe this might be what your referring to? While this is a super cheap option (and looks like it can attach to the Scarlet base), I dont know if it gives the coverage I would like for the bottom of my scarlet.

Checked out Berkey Systems website, couldnt find anything that met with this application, there was a 15mm rod block http://www.berkeysystem.com/store/15-mm-series/rail-block-standard/ but it doesnt look like it will work and theres no baseplate to attach the same way as the Wooden Cam, Viewfactor or Element Technica risers...

While these 3 systems are looking like pretty great alternatives to the Red MAP, still interested if there are any alternatives. Although personally i think I'm going to go WC at the moment as I will already be buying the Quickback w/ V-Mount setup.

I have used IndiSystem's carbon rails and they are very good quality for the price.

I'm glad you like them Greg. My dad bought a set a couple of years ago, don't like them much. The tolerances on the diameter of the rods are not that great. The caps are little offset as well. If you they work for you, good.
