Okay.. now i have made sure all the Red Alert measurements are equal..
Turns out Respace corrected the build 15 differently than the 16.. So I forced them to the same levels.. (see on right side of jpeg)
What are your thoughts?

My thoughts are using the same post settings shows a complete misunderstanding of how to do a comparison like this. RedSpace didn't even exist during 15.

You need to do a full optimal color correction of each image. The other thing you could have done is a light meter reading.

Actually Redspace did exist, I used it like 2 or 3 weeks ago on build 15. In fact Redspace opened the R3D of build 16 in black so i had to get the new RedSpace to load it.

Just wanted to compare grain.. Ill color correct them both tomorrow and compare grain then.. Wanted to share my test. Sorry if "i show complete misunderstanding" is the most constructive response yu can give.

I gave the solution in the other thread and is this thread too. Sorry if I hurt your feelings.

Its ok Joelnet.. Typed words can be read in the wrong way. Was no reason for me to be upset :)

Sorry to say cinemano but the light has obviously changed from shot to shot, which makes the whole comparison kind of useless.

To make you feel better: I did exactly the same thing two days ago. Did a shot with 15, upgraded the camera, did a shot with 16, and then realised that since it takes quite some time to upgrade, the light coming from outside could have changed. And going back to 15 to do a proper test is not possible...

Strangely (or because of this problem) I haven't seen a test on the forum pointing out the obvious differences between 15 and 16. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but my feeling tends to be that the difference is just not that big.

I'm too abrupt in my writing sometimes so it's understandable.

I did do a very similar test to this when I first switched over except I was even in lower light. I did not see much of a sensitivity change but the noise pattern and blue channel are nicer in 16. That combined with the solution to the codec errors and the other nice features they built into 16 made it a very nice upgrade. Not sure I'd call it a new camera altogether though.

Can't see the problem personally. Girl looks fine in both samples.
