15" Macbook pro retina for 4K work?

[Colbern Rae]

Please help out a novice, if I want to edit a 10minute short film shot on scarlet-X in 4K, will the brand new macbook pro 15" retina suffice? 2.3ghz quad core i7, 16GB 1600mhz memory, nvidia geforce 750m with 2GB gddr5? will this laptop even play 4k WITHOUT a red rocket? thanks

Is there a reason you need to edit at 4K? Why not edit at 1080 & finish 4K and save yourself processing time?

The short answer is yes you can work with the native red files just fine. You won't be monitoring 4k, but not many people are.

Just got the new MacBook Pro. Going to pit it against my iMac 2013 model and see how it stacks up.

I can't imagine a significant speed boost but I'm curious to know myself. Please share your results Isaac.
