  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

1270P raw

And, according to the new format specs, the highest possible frame rate of any Redcode format would be 60fps (2k)?

And the max frame rate from the full 35mm sensor in Redcode is 30fps?

Max frame rates

Max frame rates

The max frame rate recording 4K RAW is 60fps and 4K REDCODE RAW is 30fps.

Using the central area (Super 16mm optical coverage) of the sensor we can record significantly faster frame rates using 2K REDCODE RAW.

The specs at red.com currently say 2K REDCODE RAW is up to 60fps, but that will be updated in the next 24 hours.

Ah ha! Just like what phantom cameras are doing?
Then, would it be possible to do something like 1000fps and over
if we do in something like 720? I wouldn't really mind shooting
in Low-res and blow it up for ultra high speed stuff.

Since you guys are doing two bootable firmware type of thingy,
maybe we could do a third one, with super high frame rates with
less resolutions?

Just thinking.

So that means no 60 fps in 2K scaled mode when using 35mm glass ?
I am sad.

Just to bring in a note of reality, the highest speed Red has ever mentioned was 120 fps.

Note that there are many links in the imaging chain (image sensor, analog amp, ADC, FPGA, data link, storage device) and each one has its own maximum speed. Using a cropped view reduces total bits per frame but that only helps the digital parts of the chain. There are probably still minimum shutter time and frame time limits on the sensor, analog section and ADC.

Um,
Just out of curiosity Stuart from my understanding of bayer pattern sampling there shouldn't be any concept of "scaled" IE wouldn't that screw up your Matrix?

Not if you scale by skipping every other group of photosites. Theoretically, it should be possible.

Just when I started to get my head around the shooting formats change (as we were told they might) I think I wait for Gregor Hagey to conduct his test. I'll probably visit just so I can figure this all out again.

I hope more features are coming. I hope 720p or 1080p 120fps or even 100fps will be possible.

We have posted the formats we are sure of... there may be more to come.
