I can not go into many details at the moment, but I have a client that wants content shot at and played back at 120fps. (not slow motion)
Does anyone have any experience with this? Everything involved in playback and display has been sorted out. I just need the content now. In theory I know this can be done and how to do it, but I am looking for information from anyone that has done it before and may have some insight.

Please refrain from commenting on how bad it will look or how stupid this is. I have heard it all already. I am just looking for insight from someone that had done it.
Thank you!

Just shoot with whatever project frame rate and interpret the footage as 120fps native in Resolve or other programs.

You of course won't be able to have a realtime preview of 120fps @ 120fps...at least on RED.

From what I have tested, Premiere, Final Cut, and Resolve will not do a 120fps timeline option. I think I have a not so perfect work around for it, but it is a major hurdle.

I've seen stuff that Douglas Trumbull shot and projected in 120 fps.
He is tha man to talk to

cheers

Would you not just speed the clips up in Resolve for the correct playback?
If your base timeline was say 30fps, but you shot at 120fps, just speed the clips up by 400% and you should have what you want.

That way, you will have a 30fps timeline that will play nicely with any TV or editing program etc.

Resolve 15 apparently can support 120fps. From the features guide:

Support for Frame Rates Up to 32,000 Frames Per Second
To accommodate media from different capture devices capable of high‐frame‐rate slow motion capture, and to future‐proof DaVinci Resolve against the rapidly improving array of capture devices being developed every year, DaVinci Resolve has shifted the upper limit of supported frame rates to 32,000 frames per second. Hopefully that’ll cover things for a while. Please note, just because extremely high frame rate media is supported, do not expect real time performance at excessively high frame rates, and understand that what performance your workstation is capable of depends on its configuration and the speed of your storage.

Like Karim said, Resolve 15 supports 120 fps timelines, well at least Resolve Studio does.
