Aloha guys-

I have a conundrum. The dp wants to shoot 12fps but transfer 24fps. Basically what we see on the monitor is what we end up with. I know I can transcode as normal then slow it down 50% and we are there. Sound is in sync and we get the funky look he wants. I would like to do all of this on the first transcode instead of transcoding twice ;)

Shoot at normal speed with a 360° shutter then slow it 50% in post. Then you get your in-camera sound and the same motion as if you'd shot 12fps. You still have to render twice, though (depends on your NLE).

Can you set the base framerate to 12fps?

That seems like a good idea. I think there are plugins that do this.

I was able to change all the speed in FCP and batch export. They kept their original timecode and I layer the sound in for a perfect match. It would be cool if I could select this in one of our transcoding software since I'm told they do this in film.

This worked great, sucks it's two renders but with the batch export it's a set it and forget it so a minor challenge.

Aloha
Scott
