My Question is,

since there will not be any 4k projection of movies anytime soon and 2k is the standard NOW, is it recommended to do a color correction in this projector for filmout, with the use of some sort of LUT? Not forgetting most of the film festivals are now accepting HD films.

There's a handful from Panasonic and Infocus(and probably others) at 1080p you can find pretty close to $2K street already. :)

To answer your question- these sorts of projectors are fine for client screening but I think they're not quite accurate enough to be relied upon 100% for color correction. You want to go with something more like a high-end calibrated professional monitor/LCD from Sony, Panasonic JVC, etc.
