So, if I had a client who wanted 1080P, but I needed to over crank the footage because the client wants plenty of slow motion shots.
Would I shoot in 3k, so I could over crank it, and down-res the footage to 1080p in post? Or would I simply edit the RAW 3K and just output the footage at 1080P?
I'd stay at the higher res as long as I need to make changes to the Image. So do your cut in 3k, grade and put effects on it and than output to 1080p. That's the route that I would go. And you can always re-frame the 3k if there is a boom in the way or you want a dramatic creep into the footage but didn't think about this in Production. If its 1080p you have to blow it up in this case.
