Okey, I've been reading a lot and everybody's talking about 100 Megabyte per sec. Where can I find this info? The specs are written in CAPS so it could be 100 Megabits per second for all I know. Did I miss something?

And if it is 100 MBytes/sec for the 3K scarlet...what's the reason? Isn't the 4K RED 36 MBytes/s?

I believe the camcorderinfo.com page said 100 Mbps, which makes more sense to me than 100 MB per second.

I'm quite sure it tops out @ 100 Mbytes/sec. Less compression and same level es EPIC. The new topnotch RED compression level. Still a 1/10 (approx) ratio @ 4k. But I guess you can record RC 28&36 too, if you want to save bandwith. The 100 makes it more relevant as a pro vfx cam.

Choises are always a good thing and I'm more a post-guy so less compression is always better. RC36, however, looks fantastic!

If 4K Redcode is 36 MB/s we could have 3K @ ~27 MB/s without further compression, but I really don't know if it works that way.

I think it would be nice to have a even lower "LQ" datarate option for some type of situations where content is more important than quality.

Does the current CF spec allow for 100MB/s? I'm sure we'll have cards before long capable of writing that but would there need to be a new CF spec?

http://www.compactflash.org/faqs/faq.htm

"The CompactFlash card specification version 4.1 supports data rates up to 133MB/sec and capacities up to 137GB"

The question is how early could that speed be achieved? 1 year? 5 years? Maybe Red has some other storage option in the works like a flash card raid or would the Red drive work?
