  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

10.8.2 no good with rocket

Probably not very helpful for you guys, but I'm running my RedRocket in a Sonnet Thunderbolt case on 18.8.2 and with RedcineX 16 Beta it works fine (had issues with Redcine 15 though)...however Redcine crashes after each finished batch transcoding.

Wow you actually got it working? Did you do the supplemental update? Just curious because under 10.8.2 I couldn't get anything to work.

In my testing craze I did actually have the Sonnet/RR setup working and transcoding within RCX beta, however, it's shot in Davinci and PP.

Hey Bob

It never really stopped working for me. I updated to 10.8.2 automatically a couple of days ago...and did the supplemental update just recently and I didn't even realise that there are issues with redcine and the rocket until I found this thread....so I fired up my machine to check it and it all works fine and smooth...apart from the fact that redcineX16 crashes after each final render of the last clip in the batch list. Have you tried it with the redcine 16 beta ?

hmm good question....what is the usual maximum length of an R3D file ? then I ll try to find a very long take and see how that works out encoding.
I usually have takes ranging from around 30 seconds to a couple of minutes in length

the only issue I had so far is that redcine crashes after a full batch render....so lets say I'm exporting 30 clips...it will crash after the 30th clip is done. and sometimes it simply wont load any R3Ds and play them back in the viewer. In which case I have to restart my machine.

have you guys tried restarting your machines with the sonnet case unplugged and only connecting via thunderbolt just before you start up redcine ?

Hi everyone,

Same problem. Output crashing or stopping with Rocket and 10.8.2 in a Sonnet box. Tried reinstalling rocket driver and now am in the process of reverting to Redcine X 15 (which sucks since no retina support). If this doesn't work, any solution? I'm 3 weeks away from one of the most important jobs I have this year. If the rocket doesn't work for me I'm completely screwed!

By the way, everything was fine in 10.8.1. The absurd thing is I updated to 10.8.2 by mistake. The damn OSX new prompt window just came out of nowhere...

Cheers,

Sergio

Ya gotta roll it back to 10.8.1
