WITHDRAWN: My heart is over-ruling my head. THIS ITEM NO LONGER AVAILABLE AS I'VE DECIDED TO JUST KEEP IT. '-)

I am offering for sale my CF WEAPON camera, number 569, brain only with 43 hours. Conditions of the sale are buyer and I split Paypal Invoice charges/ACH charges. I pay shipping costs... Continental U.S. sale only.

Items being sold and shipped are the same package of items (case, Brain, AC power cord) I received when camera was delivered to me. The firm and final price is $48,000... non-negotiable. Buyer pays transfer of ownership costs through RED.

This is an emotional decision for me, but is one where I've forced my head to over-rule my heart. I've paid for the 8k sensor upgrade but having waited til almost the last day to commit, I fear I'm looking at many, many, many months before my number comes up. I've checked with RED and learned I cannot link the paid-for $10,000 8k sensor to the camera sale, so this is a 6k CF WEAPON sale only. If you want 8k you presumably would have to order that when 8k allocations re-open. At least you would already have a camera capable of the 8k sensor upgrade.

Getting to 8k was my sole reason for buying the CF Weapon.

I'll still re-enter the CF 8k arena but I'm sure it will be a couple of years before we can buy them off the shelf.

For now, I have a little movie that needs making and I can shoot it with two RAVENs... one on hand and another on order.

If you are seriously interested, P.M. me and I'll give you my email address to correspond further.

My head says please do so sooner rather than later... before my heart gets the upper hand and I back out.

NEW: A fellow REDuser has suggested I consider a long term lease plan, I suppose even going into the 8k upgrade period to make it more attractive. I would consider that.

New option shown in green in original post.

Elsie -- Do you mean that the lease would allow your buyer/lessee to 'capture' the $10K upgrade you have already paid and that the lessee would be getting (in effect) an 8K Weapon in the
deal ? Would you consider some sort of trade ?
Tx,
Serge

Hi Serge, Just thinking to make any long term lease deal attractive, I would have to include 8k time in the lease. How much and length/terms of such a lease would be negotiable to some extent. With two RAVENs and accs already planned for, I don't really need anything more than money, so no trades.

I have never met Elsie, but over the years he has shared his production process with all us enabling us become better filmmakers. In my book that makes him a superb guy. I would have loved to see your film in 8K (hopefully Red can bump up the loyalist or give you a loaner 8k). Anyone in the market for a Carbon Fiber Weapon, this is an excellent price.

Here's a bump for you Elsie.

Shash, thanks for the kind words. Truth be told, most of what I know was learned here on REDuser from posters like you and others who were willing to share. (So take heart those of you new to the RED system of shooting. It will come easy thanks to the mentors on this forum. '-)

As for a special dispensation from RED to get me to 8k for my upcoming shoot, I would not be comfortable with that. Not due to any self-esteem issues of un-worthiness... but because those ahead of me in line are just as worthy and want their 8k cameras just as passionately. Besides, this next project is 4k-o.k. The one after that is only 8k-o.k., in my mind.

Elsie:

The way to do this is to make the lease with a very large up front payment e.g. 80-90 percent of what you want to sell it for and then lease payments to amortize the rest with contractual wording to include the upgrade option and payment for the upgrade required at the time of upgrade and with a fixed buyout at the end. Legally you are the owner until the buyout at the end and therefore eligible for whatever you are eligible for as an owner.

I have done this in other situations, however I'm not a lawyer, I'm just playing one in this post so you should confirm this with an actual lawyer.

BTW I initially thought this was Red being difficult but in talking to them a while back on another sale situation back in the RED1/EpicX era it was explained that a simple sale and transfer of that upgrade capability, just makes it too difficult for RED to keep track of who is entitled to what.
