1,000 FPS DVX Anromeda Hack

Is there frame rate control below 1,000 fps or is all or nothing?

The thing about Andromeda/Hydra is that it shows what the companies like Panasonic, Sony, Canon, etc... - have been holding for themselves. The cameras are clearly capable of this. 1000FPS - 720P - 10-bit - 4:4:4 - uncompressed and on DVX?!?!? You know at that point that RED is just scratching the surface... (And I mean that in a positive way...)

OK... I know way back a long time ago I said I'd never post Andromeda footage here ever again, and I've held to that promise. I'm not posting footage in this post. I'm simply informing people of some truly cool news that has been recently released on the Reel Stream forums:

You can make the DVX Andromeda shoot 1,000 fps!

Go here for the post/sample clip.

http://forum.reel-stream.com/viewtopic.php?t=911

At first I thought this was a joke, even when looking at the sample clip because the guy in it just moves slow, but then there's this curios last shot where he's slamming down cereal boxes... and there it was, all this cereal just
floating around in the air.... wow!

Other Andromeda users are still waiting for more details on how this is implemented, but it seems Juan didn't disappear after all.

Okay,
I'll be the skeptic on this one. I'm looking at the clothes and balance points of the guy and even the hat. and something does not look right and as far as the cereal goes. . . After FX?

So let the bashing begin, I just don't believe but it sure would be nice if it were at all possible. Come on RED more surprises, 1000 fps burst for 30s on the RED ONE (yeah I know, dreamer)

This is awesome!

I really don't like the fact that a very small number of people here were giving you shit about posting Andromeda stuff. Why? If people are not interested, then the threads will sink.

Rock on, Chris.

Man, I still plan to keep my DVX100A even after my purchase of Scarlet, but, I sure would like to modify my DVX with the Andromeda. Maybe Juan is coming with some new technology that will allow for this but doesn't infringe on the sale of the previous technology we know as Andromeda. Anything is possible I see. Otherwise, why would Juan be developing anything for technology that can't be sold or used. He would wasting time. Don't you think?

Chris, I know you made an investment in Andromeda, so, I appreciate you staying on top of this. If I could get this DVX modded then add Scarlet that would be my kicker setup.

2 wows:
One for what is camera capable
2nd for smart people who enable it

amazing time

I may be out of the loop here... But, where can I find more information about "Andromedized" HVX/DVX cameras? I own both an HVX200 and DVX100 and would love to shoot at super high FPS.

Any info would be most helpful! Thanks!

after watching this funny video I think I will fully believe to this after seenig some splashing water footage or blastnig party baloons etc.

OK, for all the skeptics:

"It can't be done"...

Thats what everyone said about the Andromeda being capable of HD, 4:4:4, uncompressed 10 bit...

and it really does do that . I know, I own it.

My own personal testing, and I've done serious amounts of testing, shows that the DVX is really just a 720p version of the HVX. The HVX can do variable frame rates... why not the DVX? Andromeda has been like a "digital cine techno wonderland" of sorts for me, and I'm not surprised to find this deep inside the "rabbit hole".

Chris,
When Andromeda came out I believed, please understand that I am not saying that 1000 f/s from Andromeda isn't possible, I am just saying that I doubt highly that the footage posted is shot at 1000 fps on a hacked DVX. Take a closer look.

for instance at 120 fps it is possible to get strobing from a 10K at 1000 th of a shutter shooting through a window at 320 ISO / ASA or what ever should one be able to see more detail in the BG and not get blown out BG? Try it.

And Cardmaverick got a point, How did they get an exposure? Any way I would love it to be true but that footage I doubt it is shot at 1000 fps that guy a good actor.
