Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)
I recommend the Novoflex RF/ M Adapter. The quality is better with tighter tolerances. The advantage is the good construction quality (metal housing), low weight and compact dimensions. Disadvantages are the low rotation angle for sharpness and a clicked aperture ring. Since M lenses have been...
There are different cables in the market regarding (incomplete) pinout and noise insulation which can create issues in several combinations. The cable should be as short as possible. Try different brands.
When a camera falls to the ground often parts of the bayonet get bent even when no visible damage can be seen. This may cause stuck lenses oran uneven sharpness over the frame. So you better get the alignment checked.
I use the same plate for years along with batterys from SWIT (Min0 Series) and Bebob Micro (switch to RED Data). You may have an outdated firmware on your Swit. Reach out to them an they send you a new firmware. Update to the latest Komodo firmware and do a factory reset afterwards. Most battery...
Try a factory reset (alway recommended after a firmware update). Be shure to erase all old data from your memory card. I recommend the Core SWX CXV-KOMU battery plate because it's the only one to read the battery charging status and pass it over to the Komodo. You must use V-Mount batteries...
Most so called cine vintage lenses from the 70/ 80 share comparable issues: heavy color fringing, heavy flares, limited sharpness, chromatic aberrations, vignetting, derived from foto lenses. In this respect they a comparable to modern Chinese budget lenses. In case you desire a filmic look and...
You may consider a camera bag (Nylon) from Sachtler or a comparable brand. The are much lighter and smaller than a pelican case and you can carry it with you in the cabin. I don't want my camera and monitor being tossed around like a brick.
Factory reset your camera. Try another perviously completely erased and newly formatted memory card from a RED approved brand and a different lens. If the error persists it's a case for the service.
My Komodo got a bunch of firmware updates over the time. Recently I had to film a long interview with continuous recording. Normally I do only short takes. The camera unexpectedly stopped recording without crashing. I could restart recording and the camera kept interrupting the recording after...
