Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)
I'll say what I think is happening in the meantime, at least in Resolve, ensure you have Tetrahedral LUT Interpolation selected in your Color Management Settings.
I am +1 here. Whether it's a native mount that we have rigid adapters, like the DSCM3 PL, or a full removable mount.
RF helps with adapted a great deal of lenses. Z-Mount gets us a lot more with more possibilities.
For those who aren't as nerdy on that front. Z-Mount is the shortest flange...
Honestly, no digital camera looks good overexposed and clipping highlights :) Heck, some film stocks also aren't exactly wonderful in that regard either.
Actual information.
RED has 3 major iterations of Color Science. Prior to IPP2, you managed clipped highlight color and tint via a feature called DRX. In IPP2, as you reach over exposure, it's now built in to taper off to desaturated white. When more than moderated over exposure occurs, it's...
My best advice to provide. Reach out to RED regarding this. KipperTie was able to make RED approved media. Not a bad idea to get the stamp of approval even on legacy hardware. In fact, done that way, they may even assist you in doing so.
I can for certain say some stuff is happening on the firmware and SDK front. Extended Highlights, current version, is supported in Resolve finally. And it sounds like there will be a new firmware update to enhance that feature further, unknown if more SDK stuff needs to happen.
Well, I will say that I'm grateful for this community. Don't worry, I'm not going anywhere and still very involved elsewhere as well as here. And more brewing behind the scenes I won't discuss just yet as I don't have a clear picture of certain things.
The whole journey, friendships...
This oddly occurred before. And there was a way to omit some categories from "new posts", but I have yet to find a way with the new forum software. There are more for sale posts in 2024 than say 2013, but the industry is larger and a bit more "gear for sale" heavy these days.
If I find a way...
1.6X Expander is a magnifying optics, has no impact on squeeze ratio. You will want to work in any 2X format when using it.
I'm assuming this is a VV sensor, typically you'd use the 8K 2X or 6:5 ratio for anamorphic, which unsqueezes to 2.4:1. If you are looking to use your whole sensor, 2X...
A recent interview with Muneaki Tokunari, President of Nikon :

I have spoken to Nikon multiple times since this has transpired with a general great sense of excitement. It's clear to me there's a change in attitude and ambition as of late with...
Dustin is pretty much on it.
If you want small and compact, the Laowa Ranger S35 Zooms are really good. I'd say next is the RF Mount version of the Fujinon MK Zooms, mainly because they are lightweight and have the macro mode, but lack PL Mount. Then it's the Pictors from DZO, which are the...
I use 98Wh a lot when I travel, 150Wh when home. However, using a shark fin w/ 2X 98Wh batteries or 2X 150Wh batteries is a good way to keep the camera up longer with the advantage of hot swap. Actually works nicely in practice as Micro V-Mount or G-Mount is about 60-40% the size of full size...
Frame size may have a very, very minor impact on power draw. Frame rate however might have a more noticeable one. Particularly on V-Raptor. If you are rolling 8 hours a day at 120fps versus 24fps, you'll certainly see an impact.

Very interesting. Even stranger we share that connection and the same name.
Our studio eventually sold the two we had to a gentleman who had a "farm". When I visited, 16 Solitaires setup to do bulk recording jobs, which helped combat against the speed issues. I think that grew to over 24...
