    RED V-Raptor [X] 8K VV

This would be very cool, but see Phil’s comment directly above re: the advantage of mirrorless cameras. I’m sure that these features could be implemented, but it’s a trade off of resources. That is, the camera might get much more expensive (for what most would consider a niche feature), or the...

    RED V-Raptor [X] 8K VV

Thanks for diving into the testing with your usual gusto, and sharing the results with your usual enthusiasm!

Brand new to RED ... and WOW!

Congrats on your new camera, great to hear you’re happy with the results!

Komodo 6k Ghosting Stutter (like multiple still frames) Instead of Smooth Motion Blur

This is the right suggestion. But to be clear, the next step here is to test! You can learn a lot by working with whoever is running the light board to test at different dimmer levels or with different lighting units.

RED RF TO PL ADAPTER W/ ELECTRONIC ND FOR RAPTOR CAMPATIBLE WITH KOM-X?

Thank you for reporting back, it makes this forum so useful!

New case for the Komodo 6k

I like that you built the case to allow you to leave the camera partially built, such as with the handle and monitor mount in place.

    RED Komodo Package (SOLD)

Really nice package—I’m a big fan of the mutiny battery plate, which adds a lot of power distribution capability as well as timecode input, etc. Good luck with the sale!

Zeiss cp.2 vs Canon CN-E why the bad rap

Thanks for reporting back, Will. And that's crazy about the lenses you had and sold. There are a lot of stories out there like that, of course. (Makes you wonder if in 10 years we'll all be chasing 1st Gen Nikon AF glass or early Rokinon lol) Congrats, Vincent, that's amazing!

Probably questions for a couple of scientists, but. . .

I also think these are fascinating questions, Stephen. Certainly I don't have answers, but I think looking into the neuroscience and psychology on the concepts of "attention" and "attenuation" might offer some basis on which to find answers. (If I'd taken a neuroscience course earlier in...

    Komodo X vs Monstro

Sounds to me like what you’re really in the market for is a Raptor!

First Look: Breakthrough Filters Direct Drop-In Filters (behind the lens)

I don’t have the Meike adapter, though I do have the Breakthrough x4 vnd. (If someone wants to send me one or wants to come to Brooklyn with theirs, happy to try.)

    Komodo X + Red Epic W 8K

No, I have never shot with the Epic W 8k (or Helium, for that matter). I have used Scarlet W, but not at same shoot with a Komodo. I do imagine that the output would be pretty matchable if you’re using the same IPP2 color pipeline with both cameras, if not 100% identical—but others will...

    Komodo X + Red Epic W 8K

I own and love the Komodo X. But I will just say: if you haven’t already, spend some time with it first to make sure you like the trade-offs. It all depends on what you’re doing, of course, but, compared to the DSMC2 cameras, you’ll spend money (and time) chasing stability solutions for mounting...

First Look: Breakthrough Filters Direct Drop-In Filters (behind the lens)

No, the Canon adapter included with the Komodo does not include a drop-in filter slot. However, you can use Breakthrough drop-in filters in the Canon "Drop-In Filter Mount Adapter EF-EOS R".

    Mitakon 50mm 1.0 Cine PL/EF - Opinions?

I think your obvious solution is to buy it from Duclos, who offer more personal sales support than B&H can. Let them know about your concerns when you order, I'm pretty sure they'll happily check the lens before they ship it to you. For professional users, where your work is more than a hobby...

    Komodo was quick

Thanks! I actually own the Komodo X, but haven't yet sold my original Komodo-- jobs keep coming up that call for 2 cameras (e.g. an interview shoot with a second angle, or something with gimbal). One thing I love about owning the two Komodo bodies is that I can just about fit two complete...

    Komodo was quick

The Komodo is just as good a camera as the day it came out-- it's great even if you set aside the low cost. Mine shot a feature that just got invited to Slamdance. I don't think the price drop reflects a downgrade in the assessment of its quality. Instead, I think it reflects a group of users...

    ND Filter Advice

If you haven't already, I'd recommend looking in particular at @Phil Holland 's posts on filters, as he does pretty thorough testing among multiple brands. But for starters, you might check out what he had to say about filters from Breakthrough. I personally own a set of Nisi 4x5.6 filters and...

Zeiss cp.2 vs Canon CN-E why the bad rap

Hey Will--totally understand where you're at in your frustrations with adapted lenses! I've only worked with the CP2s a few times and the CN-Es once. The bottom line is that I think each set offers good mechanics and a good basic look, and so they're great as "daily driver" lenses where you...

    Komodo-X hand held rig

This from Mid 49 and this from Red. Agreed. I love the Komodo X, but miss the two 2-pin lemo outputs from the Mutiny I/O plate I have on my original Komodo. I could add a similar device from Octomas or Mutiny to my Komodo X, but would be a shame—it’s so close to being self sufficient now that...
