Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)
Just found out about the Drobo Pro (http://drobo.com/products/drobopro/index.php). We have a first gen Drobo from before (and use it to backup all R1 footage), and are very happy about its concept and ease of use - but it is slooooow, especially on a Mac.
Now, the Pro has not only 8 bays, but...
Seems like Macs have lost their virginity. Turns out that some non-legal copies of PS CS4 and iWork have a trojan installed that will launch attacks on other computers.
Fortunately, there is a free program available to check (and kill) the bugger.

I don't understand how to use the Preset function in RA.
Intuition would tell me that once I have found a setting I like, I would "teach" that setting to RA. Then I go the the next clip, push a quick key-combination and that previous setting is applied to this clip.
Right now, when I push on...
Just noticed that you can punch very high (and low) numbers into the Kelvin settings in RA - The slider allows for anything between 1800 and 9400. Using the Pick WB button, I got up to over 50.000, which gives some "interesting" effects. And of course you can enter them manually.
So I started...
Was just wondering how you guys and gals are using REDuser.
I have the "New posts" bookmarked, and start on that page. I skim for interesting subject lines. Ones that catch my interest, I hover over the subject, and read the first few words without having to actually click on it. If I do find...
Did a quick test comparing various Contax / Canon adapters. Since I used quite a few pictures, you'll find it on my blog at http://visualnary.com/2009/04/01/comparing-contax-canon-adapters.html
Bottom line: The most expensive one is the best, but the cheapest isn't the worst one.

Worst
Am having a curious problem. Some of the quicktime proxies no longer worked, so I deleted them. Then I opened the R3D file up in Red Alert, and re-created the proxies.
Now suddenly I have some R3D files that open fine both in RA and RC, but I cannot for the heck of it re-create the proxies. No...
We might need a DP to do an interview with a R1 early next week in DC. Not yet locked, but would like to see if anyone experienced is available. Not a big budget either, sorry. PM me or preferably shoot me an e-mail at martin at abitofmagic dot no.
Thanks!
Got my Andy EOS mount, and first thing was to finally give our Contax Zeiss lenses a run (and a 500m Vivitar fixed at 8 as well...).
I ran a quick and dirty breathing test on a number of Carl Zeiss primes, you can see it over at...
Look what I found while cleaning out my parent-in-law´s attic. Sorry about the lighting, I only had a torch around.
I wish everyone in the RED community a very happy, exciting and crisp MMIX.
(This is not really a complaint, more an extended list of well meant suggestions. It is one way of saying Thank You to the tirelessly working RED team people. Just didn't find a more fitting section on reduser to post this.)
After a couple of weeks with our beloved RED 3971, here are some...

Hi,
I got 4 licenses for Lexars data recovery software, but obviously need only one, thus I'll pass this offer on to you. Retail price is $33.99 but as a dear Reduser you can get it for just 10 dollars.
Send me a PM if you are interested.
You'll get a registration code and a link to download...
Powerbook arrived today, and I could finally do some editing.
Some test shots with our new 3971. Nature and some basic lighting setups. All on OK(ish) Nikon Zoom (thanks Brandon; still waiting for the Birger mount), no filters.
Take this as a test, not as a showcase :) Enjoy.

Just cutting through all the noise, I want to say thank you.
Oh, and if all your hard work has left you without friends...
...we can all befriend you.
Has anyone here experience with the LI190s battery from Globalmediapro.com? Over 2 hours of power at that price point does sound quite tempting?
I have seen references to globalmedia batteries on this forum, but not this specific battery.
Last Thursday I took a drive to the airport to pick up our camera directly from the friendly FedEx crew. Back home two hours later, I genuinly enjoyed putting together all the bits and pieces. No mentionable problems there. Love the fact that RED uses paper, not plastics for wrapping. Very green...
