    4K hmi?

Hey everyone, I am thinking about purchasing a used 4K hmi fresnel. Could anyone post an example of the amount of light output these things produce? As of right now the biggest lights I've worked with are 2k tungstens and 1.2k hmi's, so I'm just trying to get a rough idea of their output...

Anyone have Dragon lowlight/daylight examples or tests they can share?

Hey everyone, Anyone have any lowlight Dragon sensor tests they can share? I ask because I am well aware of the "lowlight + tungsten = noise" issue with most digital sensors and the Dragon being no exception. However I was wondering if anyone has any comparisons or examples they can share of the...

Gaffer question...old HMI unit resistance check/fix?

Hey guys, i have an old 1200w HMI (w/ mag ballast) unit that takes double ended globes. I purchased 2 Osram 1200w bulbs that are rated at 6000k (plus or minus). However I am getting about 5300k to 5400k readings at best from the light. Now I know old fixtures can decrease output to the bulb...

Gelling HMI to balance with tungsten?

Which gels should I be looking for? I know ROSCO has a gel called "HMI to TUNGSTEN" but it looks as if it is meant for 5000k lights, not 5500 to 6000. There is also an assortment of others that seem to be a mix and match kinda thing. Anyone have any experience or input with this? thanks again, Ron

Hey guys/gals, Between the dragon camera's and their corresponding color spaces and the Alexa line, which of the 2 have better/more accurate color reproduction under any given light source? From my understanding, color has never been RED's strong suit, especially under tungsten light. I have...

Work flow: Resolve to FCPX or FCPX to Resolve?

Sorry pros I'm fairly new to this, been searching and learning quite a bit but a few general pointers will help piece it all together for me. Best workflow? If you are working with cinemaDNG you need resolve to transcode it first before FCPX can use it correct? But if you are working with RED...
