Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)
I just picked up the ZR. Can anyone tell me the differences in workflow between r3d and r3d NE? I shot some footage at the 2nd base ISO of the ZR (6400) and the footage was extremely noisy. Is ISO irrelevant as it is with, say, the Komodo on the ZR? This camera's workflow and monitoring tools...
Selling like new Red Komodo 6K ready to shoot package in NY Metro area. 40 hrs of use. Purchased new from BH Photo in May with 4 year extended warranty so you're covered until 2029. Paid more than $4500 for package so great deal!

- Portkeys BM5...
Moving forward will Nikon be manufacturing new Red sensors using the same production techniques/engineers that they used before the acquisition? My hunch is that the Red "look" is a combination of factors...
Well, I'm an experienced filmmaker (20 + years) and in documentary file size is an issue. It may not be an issue when shooting narrative, commercials or music videos, but for long form docs it is. I own a Komodo and one of the things that make it appealing is the ability to choose flavors of...
For me as a documentarian the decider of whether or not I cancel my pre-order will be if Nikon introduces different quality steps for R3D NE. As of now it's way too data intensive.
I doubt it. Nikon NDA’d everyone who reviewed the camera and from what I understand they had a Nikon rep accompanying the camera… I pre ordered the camera at 430a et and I think the queue started at 300a so I probably will be one of the first to get the camera. I’m having doubts but if I do...
I pre-ordered one at 430am LOL. Having some reservations, ie. micro HDMI, media in the battery comp, no tc or pro audio in the body, but mostly concerned about the lack of quality choices in r3d. File sized are going to be massive (according to Gerald Undone) in the Redcode RAW NE... Still...
I did notice that when attaching my Portkeys monitor to my Komodo with the BP-915 batteries that their voltage is displayed on the monitor. Theoretically if you know the voltage at which the batteries die you could guess when they would cut out. In any case I contacted Red and asked them to fix...
Looks like the ZR is going to be announced tomorrow: https://www.canonrumors.com/details-leak-about-the-nikon-zr/ SD/micro SD is an odd choice. Seems like they're going to run really compressed codecs. If the image matches the Komodo I may pre-order...
CineD has a mini doc and review:
IMO Canon has lost their mojo by going away from the DGO sensors that made the c70/c300 mkiii produce such beautiful images. The c50 just looks flat and digital to me. Seems like they are chasing Sony in form factor AND image now...
