Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)
Jarred, how about one of your delicious and nutritious product/delivery updates? Been a while since the last...
In particular we're only just over 3 weeks from shipping on the Nikon mounts (according to the last update...) and they're not in the store yet...
And I'm sure you have a little...
Just a tiny one as it says; I suggest you update the store page for the MB rod support to list 'DSMC universal mount' in the REQUIRED section.
I know, you do specify in a couple of different places that it mounts to a DSMC mount, my own fault for not realizing the implication perhaps, but I...
Just got my much-awaited MB rod support today. Heads-up for anyone else who didn't read carefully enough before ordering.
I read that it just bolted onto the 19mm universal mount. No problem, I have several lying around.
Wrong, Ross! It just bolts onto the *DSMC* 19mm universal mount. I don't...
Like a lot of us, I've watched quite a few things on Vimeo. Some suck, some inspire. This is totally OT, it doesn't have any moving pictures, but it inspires.
Why I do what I do.

...fell off for about the sixth time, today, on location in DC. Always just popped it back on and was fine in the past.
This time it fell off unnoticed whilst carrying the camera between locations, and since the locations concerned were the Capitol and the Supreme Court, the chances of it being...
Title says it all. Optex, Century or similar.
Test shoot only so timing flexible. This weekend or early next week.
Rent with a view to buying possible.
Edit: should have made t crystal clear: PL mount!
Mike
Old rule: "never buy version one of *anything*..."
RED are about the only company that tempt me, not just to break that rule but to stomp on the bits. Because I know they have my back... *especially* for early adopters.
This will apply in particular to the projector when it goes on sale!
Just...
Anyone got any suggestions for a clamp-type mounting for securing a stripped-down EPIC (brain, LCD, stills glass) to random objects for a fly-on-the-wall POV, such as car roll cages... or the inside of a fire truck...? :-)
I've never tried to do this with anything as heavy as an EPIC before...
Well the deal is done; instead of being a fractional owner I'm now sole proprietor of EPIC-X #2229, which I can now reveal is yclept 'Katla' - another badass Icelandic volcano, inevitably.
Passed initial torture test with flying colours; two weeks ago, Hawai'i shooting lava:
Bloody hot...
Has RED, or anyone else, hinted at a solution for running an EPIC (or indeed Scarlet) tethered; bypassing SSD entirely and acquiring direct to a high-performance RAID attached to a DIT cart / workstation? Any thoughts on how that might best be achieved?
Mike
Folks I need to pick up some SSD... not much, a couple of 64s or 128s would do. Need to pickup tomorrow, return Wednesday.
If you can do, post in this thread and we'll take it from there.
Thanks
Mike
Title says it all; I'm looking to rent each of the above for one day (but not on the SAME day!), to test before I make a purchase decision. A test, not a paying job so cheap is good and schedule is flexible; at your convenience!
(I've read about mechanical/ergonomic concerns with the Xenars...
Guys, looking for some ideas for a tripod.
For regular work I have a Miller Arrow 50. Can't say enough good things about it; rugged, simple, handles everything I've thrown at it.
But it ain't small and it ain't light, except maybe compared to a 2065 or a geared head!
What would you guys...
Folks,
I guess the obvious answer to this should be 'yes' but would appreciate an answer from an optical guru or, better, RED!
I set the back focus on EPIC/Scarlet so it's spot-bollock perfect, with RED FOCUS or similar instrument.
I then pull off the PL mount and throw on the Canon.
Should...
From the beta download release notes:
"Zoom Rocker mapping to aperture is not fully implemented"
Zoom Rocker?
I'm not sure I ever picked up on that before.
What could you attach to a Canon (or Nikon) mount that would have motorized zoom?
Or is this a hint at future functionality to come...
