Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)
Hey guys, here's a very simple piece shot on two MX Scarlets. Shot 3K 48fps.
It's a SWAMP PEOPLE stunt with Troy, one of the stars of the show. He's riding a mechanical gator, and having a lot of fun doing it!
A-Cam had a CANON FD 7.5mm fisheye (modded and converted to EOS by RP lens). B-Cam...
I firmly believe in the agony and ecstasy of taking risks, especially creative ones. Nothing makes you feel more alive, and is more terrifying, than making a bold creative choice, especially on paid jobs.
However I have even more admiration for those who take risks on side projects and personal...
Take a look. ASC covered Locke this month. Looks terrific. Shot EPIC 5K 5:1 with Panavision C Anamorphics. They used some tricked out "anamorphic" Lensbaby too, which sounds wild. Can't wait to see this in theaters:
Principle photography was shot over 8 Nights on real highways late in evening.
Has everyone seen this? Looks like Leitax has a great EOS dummy mount for RED ONE. Not good for electronic "L" glass, but perfect for Leitaxed Leica R's, Contax and Nikon AIS glass.
See this link: http://www.leitax.com/conversion/Cine/Red/index.html
Here are some of their photos from their...
Hey guys, one last piece to post before the holidays. Here's a great piece we did with Ashanti, for Lifetime. She was recording her new holiday song "Let it Snow", and we got a chance to film her as she worked, and interview her afterwards. Came out pretty great.
Shot by the one and only Ryan...
Hey guys, History was kind enough to ask me to tackle A Very Shelby Xmas. Here's the campaign. All shot on Scarlet with mostly Contax primes, but also a 10-100 Zeiss Vario-Sonnar and a Hasselblad prime.
We were on a tight budget, and I was ambitious...I wanted to get as many spots in the can...
Here's a super interesting project. Very modest budget (I won't say favor, but almost) and a lightning fast turnaround. Shoot was on a Monday, and edit had to be completed by Tuesday.
Original plan was to film Barbet on a black stage and keep it simple, but client and I decided to me ambitious...
The title says it all. I got a chance two months ago to fly to LA, and direct a spot with the hope of giving it a dark David Fincher Hollywood feel. That was what the client and I wanted...to give this entire project the sweeping grandeur and pacing of a Hollywood feature.
Here's what the...
So having now invested in lots of exotic and wonderful pieces of glass...I need to ask...HOW DO YOU CLEAN IT?
I know about using a cloth, and blowing off lenses with a pump, and using a light brush....but to all you former/current AC's....and everyday lens lovers out there....any other tricks...
Can anyone recommend a good FOG/HAZER machine? Something relatively affordable and portable that can add some "smoke" texture to small shoots? I have to imagine a couple of unites have started to become popular.
All and any thoughts are welcome.
thx.
PS - I know FOG and HAZE machines are...
Recent discussions this week about RED vs Alexa vs F65 vs Dragon led me to dig up this summer's fascinating article in American Cinematographer about the making of AFTER EARTH...famously shot on the F65.
As we all wait for Dragon to finally arrive...I thought it would be interesting to revisit...
Who's using EXFAT? Any pros? Cons?
Pros are that it seems to work with both PC and MAC, but cons are we've started to hear that...like other "fat" based formats...it may not be as stable as more modern configurations (such as Mac formatted).
Love to hear what the community thinks, as how...
Hey guys, how are you all formatting your drives for media managing on set? MAC FORMATTED? PC FORMATTED? EXFAT? What are you all finding the most reliable?
At Astronaut, we live on both MAC and PC, and are struggling to find the perfect drive solution. We find MAC FORMATTED drives the most...
We got a chance to interview Michael Hirst, creator of Vikings, for History's online "guides" to each episode. Shot on Epic and two Scarlets with Leica R primes and zooms. Quite a bit of HBM, too. We were trying to have him pop off the black void.
This just a sample of one of many the many...
This is an interesting spot, featuring Super Model Karlie Kloss. We didn't shoot this, but were offered a chance todo the post, which we were happy todo. Shot on RED ONE with an RPZ 18-85
We gotta chance to interview Brooke Shields and other members of the Army Wives cast, for a Lifetime branded spot. Shot on Scarlet with a Contax 85mm "Super Speed".
The one thing I think is missing in the RED narrative is that RED is MADE IN U.S.A.
I know Jim has mentioned this at times, but RED still needs a slogan that drives this home...something like:
RED, "MADE IN HOLLYWOOD".
Because unlike Sony or Canon, that are faceless conglomerates, or the...
Forgive me for beating a dead horse, but what's everyone using these days? Lowcon or Ultracon? I know digi con is popular too, but since I don't believe you can find it in 77mm thread, I'd like to stick to a comparison of Lowcon vs Ultracon.
The "Alexa" look is becoming so en-vogue, I'd like to...
