Green QT proxies after R3D trim

Mac: Did an R3D trim with RCXP-2. The resulting R3D file seems to be fine, but its (newly generated) QT proxies are solid green - even in the Finder. The proxies from the original R3D are fine. Jochen

WOMEN, JAZZ and SHOES - very early Red short

I am finally allowed to post my very early RED shortfilm here on the board: Women, Jazz and Shoes (a title everybody can relate to in some way…) was maybe the first fictional film shot on RED in Germany. We did it right after I got my RED #296, so this is pre-pre-build 16. Don't remember the...

Should I buy RED SSDs now?

Having a low Stage2 number I'm thinking about buying SSD#s now. But OTOH experience tought me to NEVER buy media before I actually need it. But maybe they will get backordered and I'll have a NomediaEpic.... What to do? Jochen

    Lens support needed for EPIC?

With my R1 I have never used a lens support with the RPPs. Now, with the EPIC being a lot shorter, the force from large lenses on the camera housing will be a lot bigger. I guess I should use a support now? Cheers, Jochen

Can we have an Rapid Epic Reducation?

It seems there will be a growing number of people with EPICs in the next few months. I strongly suspect that this camera will change the way I shoot /light/pre/post. So I could already use a day or two of EPIC reducation. Kind of a Red Day for early II-Stagers? (it seems I´m in the first 100)...

My short TOO MANY MUSES is starting its festival run: BeFilm New York Underground Film Festival (May 1st) Me as Writer/Director/Composer. DP was Wedigo von Schultzendorff (Hollywood Ending). A writer gets attacked by his muses. They cannot agree on an inspiration. The situation escalates and...

What codec should I use for Windows playback?

So my latest RED project ended up as a nice ProResHQ file in 1920x1080, 25p, Stereo. Plays back fine on any Mac here. SD-dvd looks terrific. File size in ProRes is ca. 50 gig. Now, in order to get a HD-version into lots of my client´s Windows systems, what codec should I render it to for...

    Feature request: Group audio level.

The ability to change audio levels in the EVF is very helpfull. (Almost gets me over not having pots) Could we maybe have the additional step of being able to group audio levels. This way I could ride a stereo (or more) feed a bit better than now - having to go to the second EVF menue. Jochen

R3D rendering: More than 8gb useful?

I´m planning to get a new Nehalem 2,66 GHz 8core Mac Pro. For R3D rendering does it make sense to order more than 8 gb? Or do I run into an I/O bottleneck before I´m using the 8 gig? I have a Fusion DX800 raid system (680mb/sec read; 700mb write transfer). Is there already an expert opinion...
