Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)
It should work quite well. Remember the RED One M and MX used 12 bit R3D.

It's a 1st step with currently available sensors and tech. Considering the price it's an intriguing option.
This product space will develop with time.
For many reasons Komodo OG and above is still going to be the direction people will want for filmmaking.
ZR still seems like a decent gateway...
I'm curious myself. Faster EPROM? Intelligent caching? Perhaps loading up a smaller core group of camera settings and modes?
Will also be interesting to see if this is specific to the XE or if this can be applied to existing models.

Significantly reduced boot time and sensor power consumption (with upcoming firmware update)"
Also quite interesting from the Press release.

RED is aware of the black screen in live view issue and was able to reproduce it on their end.
I also found another bug where the scrolling in 1:1 magnification does not seem to work on the Top LCD.
I did manage to find a workaround where just opening up RED Control seems to activate the...
FWIW there is a mention about the 1.8.3 ProRes issue on the support site.
https://support.red.com/hc/en-us/articles/43649705585555-KOMODO-Firmware-1-8-3-ProRes-Issue
As they mentioned, that issue is fixed in 1.8.6 seems behind us now.... knock on wood.

The Komodo firmware updates are in much better place than 3 months ago so there is progress.
Not sure if there were under the hood changes or perhaps changes to the firmware team that is at the heart of some of
these recent issues but at least they are getting fixed. I'm trying to stay on top...
An update... I encountered the issue again and updated the menu toggle work around from my original post.
It should be MENU> IMAGE/LUT > OUTPUT COLOR SPACE> and toggled between DCI-P3/REC709/REC2020/REDWideGamutRGB
Despite encountering the black screen, toggling the Output Color Space settings...
A “Get Technical support” request is the only way I’m aware of.

yes with a high detailed shot ELQ can start feeling “crunchy” particularly below 5K res.
Even with some of the slight artifacts ELQ still seems pretty on par with codecs like AVC Intra and variants etc found in other cameras.
I think ELQ can work fine with most talking heads particularly if you...
Sorry Steve I missed this message.
I have to check the GIO scope issue but I have a feeling it remains the same in the update.

A recent thread was just posted linking a new article on the YM Cinema’s site.
While reading that article I stumbled on another recent article that discusses Nikon and RED’s potential future plans for the cinema space.
