Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)
I’d like to learn more about how to light and shoot for HDR. My experience is limited—I’ve never shot TV or bigger budget narrative—, but it just hasn’t come up in prep or on set. Don’t think I’ve ever monitored in HDR.
Just for reference, I’ve never seen the colorist override a director or DP. They very much tend to be service oriented, and it’s not like they have the final say on anything. I have seen a producer push back on bolder choices, and certainly have seen bad notes from a client/agency.
It appears that Tilta makes a cable for this.
You can also use one of several products that add a r/s port to your Komodo (I have products from Mutiny I/O).
Thank you. Without seeing a video clip, or at least a still image, it's very difficult to make any diagnosis. (There's nothing strange about the information you did post.)
If you can recreate images that seem to have the same problem, then share them here and we can help. But if you shoot again...
I think that you’ll get the best help identifying the issue if you are able to share examples—preferably good quality video, or at least good quality stills. And please share your settings when you share the images. (Camera, recording mode, shutter speed, ISO, etc.)
Blurry often refers to a...
The gimbal use suggests that the Komodo might be a good fit. (Though certainly you can put a DSMC2 on a gimbal, you usually need a larger one.) I also like using the Komodo on a slider, because it can be stripped down and used on a smaller lightweight slider (I have a Rhino slider with carbon...
All of these cameras are good an capable options for shooting music videos, commercials, and even features.
A couple things to consider:
-if you’re looking to have the camera last 7-10 years, consider that the older the camera, the less likely it is to be repairable for that time period.
-in...
I'm not sure I understand the question. I always deliver in whatever aspect ratio and resolution my client requests-- so I don't give them 6k r3d files if they ask for 4k prores.
Is your question whether it's better to downscale/transcode BEFORE edit and grade? I don't usually do much post, but...
Haven't had a problem of this nature myself. Might be helpful if you check and also share your monitor settings-- for example, are you applying a LUT to your image? What ISO are you rating your camera at? (The attached jpg is too small to read those settings.) You probably already discussed...
That was an adaptation of the 20-100? Love the look of that lens on digital. (And I sometimes still rent the 20-60, which is sharper and a bit more modern looking, would probably intercut a bit better with the s4s, I suppose…)
Agree with you that a medium format Red camera would probably come along with a new line of lenses for that format from Nikon. I actually imagine Nikon would release a medium format stills camera version first, if they were ever to go there.
I do question whether medium format digital is any...
