Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)
I’m the same – I insisted that it was the link adapter which was at fault and not the camera because I could not go without the camera. And as always the customer is right. Usb cables are still very finicky. I ended up using an ethernet cable and USB to Land adapters on either end. That way you...
After a whole year of arguing with Red that I had a faulty link adapter – they finally relented and sent me a new one. It worked straight away. What a joke. Of course, a brand-new replacement worked.
I am on FW 1.8.1 on my Red Komodo.
Red Control with Wifi and Link Adapter is stable but I after about 5 mins I get these glitches on the Viewfinder in Red Control.
Images attached. I don't have false Color on.
Also AF with my Canon RF lenses seem to get focus and then it goes out of focus...
I can see that the Komodo has the option for 30s of Pre-Record.
But despite cutting the resolution down to 2K - the best I can achieve is 10s.
What are all the settings to get 30s of Pe-Record on the Komodo?
TIA.

After a year of a faulty Red Link Adapter I received a replacement and so I got to use Red Control with a USB connection.
Unfortunately I must have messed up a setting as the LCD display on the Komodo now only shows IMAGE 2 (Attached)
I would like to get back IMAGE 1 (attached) which has the...
Thanks Mikael, Yes I have always known about the HotSpot - and that always says 1 discovered or confirmed that it is connected and I always say yes to TRUST.
Never thought to use a Ethernet cable with USB on both ends - isn't that the same as using a USB-C cable? That is confusing.
and if I...
Thanks Brian, This has been a a problem from Day 1.
and I know the camera is always off whenever I have removed it. So that has ruled that possibility.
Previously at least it used to work sporadically. But since getting my new iPhone 16 Pro Max and updated to latest iOS.
It does not work at...
I bought the Link Adapter for my Komodo thinking I could Geta nice stable connection without fumbling with Wifi.
But no from Day 1 it has been finicky - the right thing for RED to do is to send me a new one to test but no they want the whole thing sent so they can inconvenience someone whoa...
Just coming back to this thread.
My fix for this issue with my faulty LINK adapter is to couple and uncouple the the lens before using the USB link adapter. and it all works then - of course - it is a real nuisance.
I reported to RED that it would be ideal if they could just let me try out a...
Hate to labour this point :
but for me now - it is more about why?
Today I waited a whole 24 hrs
Connected phone to RED - no signal in RED Control.
So again I uncoupled and then coupled back the RF 35mm lens (this time)
And the connection worked.
Prior to this I did uncouple and then couple...
I am still astounded that the fix to the flakiness of the App has been solved by just detaching and attaching the lens. For me now even the cheapest cables work.
I am surprised that after having to pay for the link adapter RED has refused to do anything about persisting for the need to have a...
With further testing I realised - you just need to remove the existing lens and just put it back on every few hours.
Would love to hear an explanation.
OK looks like I have once again solved this problem: WITHOUT any support from RED - Those guys seem to know NOTHING. Why do we pay exorbitant prices for their link adapter when they haven't got a clue when there are issues.
I finally remembered how I sorted this out 6 months ago.
My settings...
