Shot on Red Scarlet MX and Sony A7s.

I recently received Scarlet and RPZ 17-50 and after doing some testing I feel like I'm not getting the maximum quality out of my setup. I basing the quality I can acheive from clips like these: https://vimeo.com/34273982 (shot with same camera and lens, skin texture looks very detail imo)...

If im trying to get a silhouette type shot how do I exposed for it. I clipped the blacks halfway in this test I did but it has crazy artifacting in the footage that I cant stand https://vimeo.com/66597401

Since Vegas won't accept changes made to .r3d files in Red CineX and there is no option to change the color space is there anyway to get REDlogfilm inside of Sony Vegas without having to transcode?

I am looking to buy pretty much everything that comes in the collection. I can do without redvolts and mags tho. Pretty much the scarlet with side ssd and canon lens mount, 5 inch touch screen, side handle, red station, power cord, and all the necessary cables.
