Do you guys that use it, like it?

Was thinking of getting one for my R1, 7D, 5D setups

At work we have the old version that has so many flaws. But the new one, the one you talk about is great. My brother bought one in november and it is so great.

Really good sound, easy to use, portable and rigid. Can recommend it!

Though trickier to use on location since the mixer is not as easy as Sound Devices or something like that. But for grabbing soundeffects and some dialog it works great.

It's solid but not really in the same class as the camera. Better suited to DSLR gear. If you really want a piece of audio equipment in the same league as the RED One, I highly recommend this:

I purchased one about 4 months ago and it's been a great tool to have. It's rock solid and sounds great. I do agree it's more suited for the DSLR setup, but for the price it's seriously amazing.

It's a toy. A cool toy, but a toy. Tascam DR100 is a better toy in the same price range.

Hardly a toy, in the right hands you can get very pro results, sure compared to a sound devices unit, it loses but for the price, it is hard to beat. I think this would be great with the Scarlet, especially for those looking for a compact rig and do not want or cannot afford the Pro i/o module.

For the DSLRs I'd say go for it. I like mine lots. The price is really hard to beat, you'll find bundle deals with a 16gb SD card plus a remote (and really crappy cans) for $325.

On the minus side - Setting levels is somewhat finnicky, especially in 4 channel mode with the remote; Like Liam said, it is a stereo device and four channel mode is essentially double stereo - you don't have control over the levels of the two inputs which is inconvenient.

Essential kit for vacation shooting.

It is what it is Richard, a decent quality low cost digital recorder.
I keep one in my smaller audio bag with an SD302 for traveling.
Radio mics feeding the camera, and the tape out feeding the H4N.

All the Best!
