  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RELEASED: Beta Build 30 Firmware (v30.4.1)

It's def with the M...

Shot a bunch of tests over two days, and trying to figure out how useable (if at all...) they are...

Seems to me like if you have signal above a certain threshold, the files work ok...

Not too sure how useable this is for any purposes, though.
(Just started to look at them... Not certain about anything right now...)

OK, I'm really trying not to be a complete Red fanboy but the Swat team never ceases to amaze me....

I sent my test R3D clips (from earlier in the thread) to Graeme yesterday afternoon (Sunday).
He replied immediately saying "the team is working on it".
8:40 this morning (Monday), I get an email from Brent with a link to the new, improved build ready to test.

I want some of whatever coffee they are drinking. :)

Mark, the build 30 is still a BETA and this is exactly why. If they withdrew it from the downloads page they will never be able to catch bugs like these. It was obviously affecting a small amount

Mick, I'm on an M sensor.

hm...

Getting an unexpected result here...

Shot same chart (a res-chart) under tungsten, once with WB=tungsten, once with WB=daylight

Quickly exporting fullrez/fulldebayer dpx's with the snapshot button in RCX and same WB settings (5600K)

Importing to Shake and running them through a ISUB node.

They should be similar, shouldn't they?
Right... NOT if they're not totally alligned.

So I start to peek.
And can see some differences.

Is this new or B30?

With build 30.4.1 RedcineX 104-Windows7 crashes all the time. I can´t even load a file into the timeline. As soon I touch a file, it freezes. Worked with build 30.3.1 files . Known issue?
(Graphic card is Nvidia GT8800).
Sorry if this is maybe not the right thread.
Thanks,
Marc

I also received an updated build 30 and the problem is solved. Good fast work from Red.

Still curious how Jeremy Newmark was able to shoot with Build 30 and obtain his reported excellent results; proves the old rule about always testing for yourself!

Good shooting and best regards,

Leo

Milan,

THis is typical of the response I have received from RED. I am always shocked when I hear people complain about their service.

Wonder if they roast decaf?:()

One of these days you guys are gonna run out of adrenaline... and take a short vacation. Just curious... has anyone at RED ever taken a vacation?

I don't know what to tell you Leo, but we loaded the build the day that 30 was released and the only issue we ran into on 7 days of shooting was that twice the EVF locked up when it was in zoom mode. Other then that, we had no issues. I worked with the footage all last week and it looks absolutely fantastic. I have yet to load the build on our other camera and test it, once I do, I'll let you know if I'm having the same issues as you guys.

Thank you Jeremy; please let us know a bit more; daylight or tungsten? 4K? Aspect ratio?

Anything you can think of will surely help the Red boys and girls.

Good shooting and best regards,

Leo

Everything was 4k 16x9, redcode 36. Mostly daylight, some tungsten some mixed. I probably won't have any time to test our other camera until thursday, but I'll let you know.
