Last night we took some of our lenses (MasterPrimes and Hawk Anamorphics)out there and shot a couple of tests with our Red-MX #221.

We used the light we found but brought a Litepanel Micro to give some fill for the exteriors.

We started our shoot at Brooklyn Bridge Park, but it was too cold out there, so we soon decided to move inside.
In my apartment we shot some more tests, which were only lit up by up to 6 candles!!!
Most of the time we only used 3 of them.

We even shot some 2K slowmotion at 72FPS!!!

WE LOVE MX !!!!
THANK YOU SOOO MUCH JIM & RED TEAM!!

Thanks for these tests.
Viewed this while checking out the new RCX.

Very impressive footage particularly the indoor shots.
Those setups (particularly the first one) were very nice.
I really like how the MX seems to handle highlights.

It looks like 2K really benefits a bit by the lower noise floor in the new sensor.
Those slo mo shots would have looked very "chunky" under Mysterium.
Again, thanks for these test.
Love to see more 2K slo mo in daylight.

Beautiful.

Love the shot where the talent blows out one candle after the other.

Lovely grain structure on the EI 1600 shots.

In the opening shots, was that really only a Litepanel Micro as a fill? I'm only asking because it looks like there is no fall-off. (shot #2)

Thank You, Martin :)

Yes, only a Litepanel Micro was used, we had the camera next to a lightpost which gave us already a decent light, but it was a little bit too harsh from the top, so we fought that with the Lightpanel.

@brian
we will post some more footage soon also daylight. We'll try to shoot more this weekend.

Just to be fair it was a Mini Flood Litepanels gelled to match the pole lights that were in the area... but even the Micro could have done the job... I think my favorite was the candle blow out shot as well:)

Upps, my bad, mixed up the names of those lights. Don't own any of those.
Gregger, thanks for the correction, hah! you better know the names you sell them :)

This was the best low light M-X test i have seen so far! Well done!

In the last shot there is what seems to be a fixed pattern of vertical stripes. I have seen this in many M-X low light shots until now so it must be a characteristic of the new sensor. I wonder if it will become less evident through firmware updates in the future.

I am looking forward to your daylight tests as dynamic range is as important to me as as low light capabilities is for others.

Well done again for this great test

Thanks for sharing that footage. Absolutely beautiful lowlight material. Kudos to the talent for the performance. She sold it big time!

I forgot how physically large those Master Primes were.

Yeah! Wasn't she great? Kathryn and I went to college together and she came thru last minute to help pull this off... Looks like Eli Manning isn't the only talent to come out of Ole Miss... Hotty Totty!
