Are you saying this will go onto Canon stills cameras as well? 5D Mark II?

This looks very promising for the future sensors, we will definetly get one of those, we are also very interested in a version of the 24-70 and why not of the newly updated 70-200.

Congrats,
Emmanuel

remove the Pl mount and install the canon mount with proper spacing so that collimation is in. hope this helps
Stuart

How long does that take? Can it easily be done in the field, in remote places like deserts, mountains, etc?

If you are thinking of swapping the lens back and forth between a Red and a stills camera, I don't think that's a great idea. #1 it's a zoom, so the lens has to have the back focus set exactly (probably in a shop on a bench columator with shims), second, because the depth of focus is so shallow see #1

first of all the two mounts will be matched to each other. As long as the surfaces are clean and you follow the instructions on how to change the mounts there will be no problem.

It will be very easy to remove one mount and install the other. pl to canon and canon to pl

I am profoundly interested in this... I expect to be intermingling RED and 7D footage in the near future, and would love to be able to do so with lenses that work on both cams.

I was thinking of just using SLR lenses, but this sounds much nicer to me.

24-70 and 70-200 are very interesting option, especially when ff35 comes out.
Having them done in a way that you can swap the mounts is great a idea;), since the dslr are becoming very popular.

A price drop to 5000-6000 would be a factor for masses to own it.
Just saying from my perspective thought.
I would buy all three for say $17000.... without blink of an eye:)

That's a big statement; I'm under the impression Stuart's come across a lot of glass over the years

It is a huge statement, but its meaningless at the same time.

Does he mean the sharpest in that focal length range?

Maybe the sharpest ultra-wide zoom?

At the price point?

Is there some other qualification?

Its a bit too non-specific.

About the only thing I can take from that statement is that Stuart is impressed. That may be great- but excuse me if I don't toss out my primes just yet.

We are also rehousing the the 70-200
Stuart

Stuart,

I am sure you are aware that Nikon is releasing a new version of the 70-200 since the previous one was notoriously not proper for Full Frame imaging systems.
It was suffering from very soft corners, as well as severe vignetting.
It still was fine for DX formats but since we are all interested in your lenses because they can provide FF coverage, I truly come to expect you will use the new version of the 70-200 if Nikon manages to fix those serious issues.

What you think?

Emmanuel

All modern cine lenses have a focus scale of at least 270 degrees and a T-Stop scale of 90 degrees.
If you could do this the the lens it would make it a lot easier for AC's to pull focus.
