  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

color to apple blown out...

Did you perform a CC in FCP prior to sending to Color?

would never perform a cc in final cut! so no..

No color Luts

it looks great in my COLOR window.. how do I check in quicktime?

Monitoring has nothing to do with this...
it looks GREAT in COLOR.. looks like butthole in FCP (same monitor)

also.. same monitor ive used for many projects that have worked flawlessly

I know but once I applied a "temporary" 3 way color correction in FCP to some shots and I forgot to remove it before sending to Color. I did the color in Color and when I sent the sequence back in FCP some clips were blown out, I tried a lot of things with no luck, at the end I discovered I had applied a 3 way CC to that clips, when I removed it all was fine.

Are you monitoring through and AJA or Blackmagic card? Or are you connected via DVI?
Have you upgraded FCP recently?

I'm sure you are aware that FCP displays footage differently than Color does.

Well it could have everything to do with it, we're just trying to isolate the problem here. If you're monitoring through DVI, it could be displaying it differently as it was a well known issue for Color & FCP to use different gammas. However, if you're monitoring using a blackmagic or AJA, then it could be something else entirely.

Either way, it's basic info to help narrow down and solve your problem.

Also, what version OS, Color & FCP are you on?

Thanks.

Render a shot. Go to the render folder you selected in "project settings". Open the folder containing the rendered .mov file. Open in it with QT.

Or... right click on the clip in the FCP timeline and select "Reveal in Finder"

Double check to see if you have any filters on those clips in the timeline.

the monitor is straight up plugged into the computer.. no cards...
im running osx, the new final cut and color.. havent done any upgrades.. I did a project (a separate commercial shot the same day) 10 min before hand.. my colors and gamma looked the EXACT same cross both boards.. So i dont know what happend in that 10 min span.. but its def out of wack

Did you reimport the clips into the bin or reveal in finder? I've had this problem before an d I just reimported the shots. It didn't happen to a whole sequence, just shot intermittently on a reel.

Not to hijack the thread, just a quick question..... how do you set up Color/Aja to use external monitor? Just today I've been trying to use an external monitor with Color (Panny) but there are no options in either Kona switch panel or Color to do this ....

In fact Color refused to start until I turned the video monitor off.... something about OpenGL???

Cheers,

Milan

Isn't this with video output in user pref. Using Force RGB is made to force the aja to make the RGB to video out conversion (YUV...). If you don't use this fonction it will be the computer graphic card (ati...) that will perform this task and slow down your system.

Figured it out, thanks. :)
