  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

WTB cheap follow focus

sent you a PM ...when you say cheap what are you really saying. I have a Arri mff1 its not redrock cheap but it would last as long as you dont lose it...in other words forever
pm me if its of interest

YEAhhhh... actually You may NOT want to have a look at that POS..

Do not buy this junk, unless your buying a follow focus to just look like you have a full kit..

this thing is total junk and does not work.. I had one for about 2 days, sent it back.. bit the bullet and bought an arri ff2

Same here. I bought it true the red forum and its worthless junk. Now i am stuck with it becose the guy refuses to take it back.

I have a Redrock Followfocus too. It's the first model that came out (15mm), but it does have the upgraded gearbox. It comes with speed crank, small whip and a selection of lens gears. $400 + s/h.

im my first ac. my 2nd ac is my brother. that said i want something that works.

I have to get in touch with RRM. I have the second version follow focus and am having problems with it. I hope it is something I can get taken care of. I'm looking into an Arri. Anyone have a good supplier?

What lenses are you using? the Redrock gets a LOT of play when you use it on RPP's. Like a 1/4" to 1/2" of play before it engages. NO fun to pull focus with that. That is designed for small still lenses used on a lens adapter.

Agree with other posters. You can use black cardboard for a mattebox, but you should NOT be looking for a CHEAP follow focus. Just find a great deal on a used ARRI or Chrosziel, there have been some on here for great prices.

I still think that the Cinevate is the only viable "cheap" FF.

But yeah, Arri is the way to go. ACs usually breathe a sigh of relief when they see my kit has an FF2.

lets be str8 theres ARRI and chrosziel and then theres everything else...i was a focus puller for 15yrs and missing a shot cause a gear slip once is too much...feel me?
so if were handing advise then thats the real deal.

sorry if i sound agro must be those damn DP ghosts still screaming at me...

just sayin

ive heard a lot of ACs grumble about Chrosziel, so not sure why its on the same level here as Arri

Hey Tim, im using nikon lenes. 17-35, and 80-200.

Tim is right, the Redrock has too much play with the RPP. That's why I'm selling mine too.

I quote my grandpa, "I'm poor, I don't have money to buy low quality" what he means is, buy something good the first time around, and you'll only buy it once :)
