For the record, I don’t belief it’s the front of the Camera we’re looking at! I think we’re looking at the back of the New Epic X35/S35 Camera. What’s in the front of the Red Gunner is an I/O module to continue with all the Camera functions to the rear, there you can attach any Module as you wish. The numbers on top are of the same persuasion. There is a slide that runs between the shoulder pad and the rear module for adjustment. You can notice a button with a “V” like symbol on the right hand side of the “Camera Side” in whatever the I/O module is attached too, that can be a number of things. Whatever it is it’s not the Camera Module, that you can plainly see in the photo of the Camera module, it got a green led and an off on button.

P.P.S.: Could you please go a bit wider on that pic, Jim? Think about global warning and how many people speculate here for hours and hours, pages and pages when in the end you can just show them. All that energy that could be saved![]()
Not sure if this has been already answered, but here's my guess:
Notice the two ports at the bottom of the front of the brain in the following image:
Notice the two cables attaching to those ports with the Red Digital Cinema Logo in between as seen in the following image:
So the brain sits on your shoulder with the gun in front (so far as we can see; it may extend into the back to house cables below the modules).
I'm just hoping there are controls and a boom on the front of that gun! Nice work Red Team!
Wait.
Is the record button now on the dumb side of the camera body???

I think it could be some kind of cooling device for overclocking the ASIC or whatever to achieve higher framerates...
No, my guess is it's the the control for the attachment of the Modules, maybe a magnetic seal of some kind, maybe mechanized. The lights would indicate when it was safe to attach and detach modules and the button to begin the process itself.
my speculation, that's it.

Video from IBC of Jarred shows the latch mechansim is on the bottom of the modules and operated via a hex-key.

I've had to ban myself from this site during normal business hours due to the fact that I cannot be productive while I try and work out a way to afford one of these cameras... Getting fired would blow my budget for sure...
