  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Control...

How about multi-camera control?

Can we have 5 or 6 Epics in close proximity all on independent REDMOTEs?

Can we have 5 or 6 Epics in close proximity and control them all, in sync, from a single REDMOTE?

A lot of RED fans have seen EPIC at IBC and of course I was there too.

It was a real promo model.

Have a look at the pictures below:

Can we see a render of the "standard" IO module please? I don't believe that has surfaced yet to this point.

Any plans on a Canon EF mount with control over aperture?

...please? =D

Looks incredible though! Can't wait!

Have to ask... can we also look for pricing on the modules and batteries sometime in October as well?

Thanks.

later,
jason

What are the dimensions of a single RED VOLT?

Thanks.

Jason

I was hoping the same. It would be perfect if it was key code syncing like bluetooth devices.

HOLY SH#%T

I spend months following updates all day everyday and I take 30 hours off these boards to work on a shoot and all this stuff gets announced???

CANT WAIT to read these threads monday. Thanks RED!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for wireless control over 802.11b/g/n. This would open up the possibility of developing apps for iPhone/iTouch to mimc the remote, and give a range longer than ~30ft.

Question regarding size. Based on the old RED.com images am I correct in grouping the brains by size:

Scarlet 2/3"
Scarlet S35
-----------
Epic S35
Scarlet FF35
Epic FF35

Which is a round about way of asking "Is the EpicS35 the same size as the Scarlet FF35?"

Jim stated a couple pages back that they are:

Sorry... I gave out some bad info. The batteries are rechargeable and replaceable at a service center. They are not AAA-like. Not enough room in the box for easy replaceable.

We are making suggestions, but at least BNCs are the right connectors to use!!! Don't be tempted to use something non-standard just because they are easier to plug in.

Indeed - I didn't mean to impugn BNC's in any way. There is no other reasonable choice of video connector at the moment.

Just pointing out that the module as pictured looked like it would be really annoying to use. Presumably it is either a trick of perspective, or an early model being shown. I would be surprised if it was a problem, but there you are.

While we're on the topic, does anyone know definitively why mini connectors were used on the RED One? It seems to me like there was lots of room on the side for full-sized...

Will it be possible to develop some advanced timelapse functions for the REDmote, like maybe exposure-duration ramping, iris ramping, small-increment ISO ramping, etc? Will there be any ability for open-source-style development of custom camera functions (or "apps"?) for the REDmote, for example? Jim said something about "User options times forever..." so that got me to wondering.

There are multiple ways to control the camera. It's going to be insane.

I just want the RED Gunner... Without even knowing the details, I want it.

Really looking forward to next month's schedule.
