  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Last time...

since the red one is available, it is like you say...

since the red one is available, it is like you say...

This will be the last time I post this. Those that don't own a RED ONE will wish they did.

Jim

that´s nothing new. since the red one is out i wish i could own one. but it´s not the league in which i am able to play. there was a new light on the horizon. red scarlet. this camera would be perfect, also for the league in which i´m playing. but i -after your posting jim- i fear, i´ll be one of the last who will get a red scarlet, because i´m no red one user and there are at least 6800 red one user standing in the row in front of me (and between a scarlet and me) ... :embarassed:

sorry for my bad english, greetz from vienna,, norbert

Will red owners that wait for the epic FF35 feel the same way.... gotta have the dynamic range and 3k @ 225fps :)

Is there going to be any system in place to prevent black market re-sellings (and mark ups) of the new units? The best system ofcourse would be to just have a buttload of units ready to go, but the fact that there seems to be a need to create a reservation system worries me a little.

so I am thinking....
once all you guys trade in your RED cameras for Epics...
will that mean that there will be a bunch of used RED 1, second hand cameras for sale for an affordable price? Or will they all be scrapped? Shame if they are scrapped!

My guess is they will be upgraded with the new M-X sensor, and offered to the original owner at a discount or sold to the general public as the "Redux 1" or "ReduX-M1"

Not sure if its true, but I heard they would be donated to various university film departments.

"I'd buy that for a dollar!"

Sooooo wtf is the point in this thread? I'm so consused!!!!!!!

I think it's called stoking the fires because the competiton is making noise. Gotta keep our easily distracted dollars heading in the right direction.

You Red guys are way better business people that I'll ever be.

Oh, and you make a pretty neat camera too.

I dont think RDC would go ahead with the M-X upgrade/referbishment to Redone if this was the case. AS IT STANDS you'll still need to find extra funds towards Epic-x as is on a trade-in of a Redone.

disclaimer : At least this is they way in which i understand it. But hey...

The only constant is change
& around these parts that aint such a bad thing

That makes sense. Again, that's only what I heard from a Hollywood contact, but maybe not true. Not sure what is going to happen, but let's say RED upgraded sensors and resold the trade-ins ... i would hope the pricing reflects a refurbished product. Hopefully they continue to sell *NEW* RED Ones as well, for those that don't care to own a pre-owned product. I don't think demand for R1 will taper off until Scarlet line is released.

RED employees have said multiple times that the ONE won't be discontinued *and* that the Mysterium X would continue to be optional. So it sounds like the plan is to continue selling ONE, ONE+X and Epic/Scarlet.
