the title says it all, all i ask is an answer, i keep emailing, but no one answer, my red drive has been paid like 4 or 5 months ago, i don' t really know anymore. Very nice to see pictures of epic and all, but if this is gonna be like this, epic won;t matter if the accesories will be available one year later. Please, answer me, i need to know, at least a date, i cannot keep working with only 1 drive, it doesn't make sense.

You havent been waiting too long, 5 months is less than half of the time i've been waiting. Better contact your bomb squad rep.

Are you kidding...that means 10 months waiting?

Got a colleague who has been waiting patiently for about 3 months now and he is just about fed up with the wait. He only has one drive and a couple 8gb cards which we all know are pretty limiting in their use...makes it fairly precarious doing shoots on RED. And to top it off he has gotten the whole build 20 drive problem! It means now he has a camera that could potentially be sitting around unable to work because he can't get anything to record to...unless he spends a lot of $ on CF which i think are under backorder as well are they not? I keep on sticking up for RED saying that it's because of demand etc but jeez...that's getting absurd. He's gotten to the stage of saying it's all f....d. Seems to me it's a pretty big issue right now.

He should be filing a ticket with RED, get an RMA, send the drive and cable to RED. They will fix the problem!

A few things...

1. Yes, if you are experiencing technical issues, file a support ticket like Adrian said. If you don't file the ticket, you don't get an RMA number, you don't send in the drives/drive cables for eval and repair, and you don't get your issue fixed.

2. 10 months? 5 months? We were off of backorder of RED-DRIVES just a couple of months ago. So, if you think it has been longer than that, please do email our bomb squad rep who handles all back order fulfillment - brianb - at - red - dot - com.

3. We are just as frustrated as you on the current RED-DRIVE backorder situation. In this economic climate, unfortunately, key vendors for us have either gone out of business or been unable to meet our demand. When that happens, RED has very high-standards. We do not qualify a new vendor until they meet our levels of expectation. In the case with the RED-DRIVE, we are - and have been - waiting for a key component for awhile. And believe me, we have not been sitting around patiently - our buyers exhaust every avenue trying to find components.

Just like you rely on RED for product, we rely on others, who rely on others. That is why it is called a "supply chain". If one of the links in the chain fails, every link down stream suffers. I do not like writing this post as much as you guys dislike having to post you are waiting for gear. I am just as frustrated as you - but we are doing everything we can to get this drive backorder resolved.

That all being said, the one component we had been waiting on is on its way in good quantities so we will be powering through the RED-DRIVE backorder quickly. Everyone who has been patiently waiting should be all set by the end of the month.

Sorry for the inconvenience...
