  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

OK... REDCINE-X time.

I'll bet if you pester Jarred enough he will post the link to the 1st REDCINE-X Alpha build. If you don't like Alpha builds... don't download. Pretty easy to understand.

We will enable lots of stuff going forward (don't ask what) and the interface will get lots of eye candy in the future. But it is ready to start picking around with now.

BTW... it works with OSX 10.5 or Snow Leopard. It also works with or without RED Rocket. If playback or transcodes seem to slow for you, buy a RED Rocket. Again... pretty easy.

OK...

Remember this is an ALPHA... somewhere between a Proof of Concept and a Beta build. There is no support for this, and I recommend not using it on productions.

This is the framework.. Not alot of gloss yet and alot of things work a bit off.. but it is cool as hell. Will work with or without REDRocket.

Take it for a spin and let us know what you think....

Seems to work really well, but the interface doesn't fit the screen of my 1440x900 laptop screen. I assume that will be fixed though, but will make it annoying for using on set in the mean time.

yup Sam its 1080 and above right now..

I really like the UI. I love the movie thumbnails with the specific metadata pertaining to the shot as you scroll over them. I think the bins are a great addition as well for keeping selects etc. Will rendering become a background action or will it always tie up the UI?

Just playing with it...

It's sort of fun cause I don't know what buttons do. But I'm only using files that are already double backed up so if I mess something up it doesn't matter. Learning is sort of fun. A quick thing I noticed...

Using Spaces, the windows within the program get carried to an alternate desktop. That's pretty annoying. Although it could be useful if intended for multi-desktop, it shouldn't do that by default.

I realize this is Alpha stage and you all have probably noticed it already, but just saying. :)

I also don't have another computer currently with spaces available to see if it's just my machine or all machines.
