  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

"Over the Front"... BTS

The funny thing is, I bet Peter doesn't complain about the tiny things that so many people on this forum scream and shout about. That's worth thinking about.
A lot of all (all of the) the people here don't have the resources a Peter Jackson has to deal with problems. And there is a good chance that guys like him and S.S. got their equpiment for free or at a substantial discount.

That said, I'm sure they are real professionals with the temperment needed to not let little things get to them.

!!

!!

yes yes yes!!! I have 100% RESPECT for this style of film making.."Hands on get it doen, shoot it yourself, balls out FUN!"

I LOVE that style and don't think I will ever change from it as long as I shoot.

LONG LIVE THE LOVE that film making brings!!

post more like this JIM when you get them. I 100% LOVE it!

I can tell you that, at least on the software side, SS did not get anything for free - and he has to deal with the same problems that everyone else does. His team is pretty small, and they tear their hair out over the same post issues (not specifically RED related) that everyone else does. They just put their heads down and get it done.

That is it - we simply do not know what they do. They may complain, they are just not reduser fanatic and posting everything.

The only thing we believe to know, he is not posting. In fact we have no idea if Peter is complaining or not.

I agree on the resources issues (I don't even own a Red1...:banghead:)...as for the equipment for free, I highly doubt it: no-one of the cameras & gears rental houses I know would lend over their hardly-payed equipment for free if someone as wealthy as Peter Jackson would drop in their offices...

BTW, how the hell does he manages to do focusing? The picture suggests he's moving either back or forth...

...sorry for the double posting....

There's a remote focus system on it - I can see what looks like an M-one motor.

For some reason the boom op in the first frame is cracking me up
Count me too. Was he posing for a fashion magazine, was he confused, had a camera-stimulated panic attack, or what...? Maybe was a mannequin. I which we could hear the audio he captured... :emote_whack:

PS

I am just tired after a long shooting day at over 100 degrees, not counting the Florida humidity, so the photo irritates me (catharsis???). Tomorrow I am sure it will make me laugh... :001_tt2:

As far as I can tell, these BTS photos of "Over the Front" are from the project Peter did for the Australian War Memorial exhibit:

Jackson obviously is not stupid guy otherwise he would not be able to build his (also he shares it together with other filmmakers that he can choose>>Discrit 9 production example) NZ Hollywood like a studio...

A little bit "Unterstützt von" (supported from)... Australian Government is a way to go too...

Today a filmmaker has to be simultaneously also a producer... otherwise... :hand:

The pix in the beginning of the thread is not for 3d set up. It is for a job Peter has done for Canberra war museum. He used two cameras to overlap and to create 6:1 aspect ratio.

And it was shot in North Island, New Zealand, last year.

Well, quiet frankly, I am still trying to understand what producers really do as most of time I got to work with them I found myself or others doing everything and they were just getting their screen credit and so "validating" the project....I still have to see a producer really spitting blood with the workload...just my experience though...
