  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

OK. I have your word I will have my unit for my production early October! Thanks.

Nice to see someone who "laughing his ass off" in this this never ending story...

Well looks like we got our unit today. Didn't have an opportunity to play with it yet, but on first look and first impressions, it is very well built. I have more thoughts bit I'll save them for a better and more complete review. Until then!

Hello to all the happy people that are receiving their units, as well as to all that are patiently awaiting something to arrive in the mail,

I am curious if anyone has experimented or knows if you can use two imperos to separately control two motors with one receiver?
One control for the 1st to control focus and a second Impero for the Dp to control Iris?

Can you connect both imperos to the same receiver and simply push focus on one and iris on the other? Or do you need to have two receivers two power cables and two bus cables set up in a menagerie of spaghetti?
It wouldn't be that bad but... simplicity is always looked nicely upon....

Just trying to figure out if I just want to buy two 1 motor kits or one 3 motor kit.

I operate steadi and prefer to deal with zoom on my own, which negates using an inclino for a zoom motor since I can't hook it up to a zoe and there is no impero mini. to bolt on to the handle of my gimbal.

By the way this post has been around for a while has anyone seen that Impero is spelt incorrectly in the title?

Thanks to anyone that knows

Joshua, what unit do you fly? Are you referring to shooting with an R1? Just curious, because I noticed you mentioned a zoe.

Actioncam, Non red edition.
Zoe was just a reference to any type of Zoom controller...
I work with both Red, Eng, film.
Equal opportunity you know.
I think a heden and a preston (a little big) Zoom controller would work as well as anything.
Point was I can only use 2 inclinos. Unless they come out with a controller that is small enough for a gimbal.
The zoom motor will have to be something else

So anyway you got the answer to my question?

Anyone receiving anything this week?

A question for Curt:
Is it possible to control 2 focus motors (for 3D) with one receiver and one controller or do I need a second receiver?

Carlo

Carlo, We're revamping the firmware to take care of bugs and finalize all the promised features (knob/lens limiting) as well as multi-controller support. You will not need a second receiver, the bluetooth radio we are using supports up to 4 simultaneous connections. You will be able to map one controller to the focus, and another to the iris etc. The pro remote (protos are set to be finished in the next month) will support all three axis control simultaneously with the one controller ala Preston.

No, the firmware will be upgraded from your Mac/PC so there is no need to delay the deliveries based on the firmware time line.

Received mine today, but have to send the motor back (something was wrong with the screw thread on the clamp and it wouldn't tighten on the rod). Oh well. I waited a year and a half, I guess I can wait a few more days. I will say the motor is heavier than I was expecting, but it all seems to be well made. Good stuff.

Do you guys have any good mounting ideas for the reciever and focus knob (when flying solo)?

for time being I have just been screwing the focus knob onto a RED arm (noga) an then into any of the 1/4 - 20 threaded holes on the body or plates. I typically use the one on the lower front edge of the camera body itself.

I will be making an attachment for rods soon too (machined aluminum) that will put it in similar location to arri-f4 placement.

I try not to be too cynical, but today is my one year anniversary of my "full pay day"! VF told me personally when I ordered it I would have it on September 15th. Silly me, I was assuming they meant 2008.

Please please tell me its 2009!

The pro remote (protos are set to be finished in the next month) will support all three axis control simultaneously with the one controller ala Preston.
Curt,
That's great, but please make it possible to separate the different modules, so that the assistant can have the Focus remote and give the iris remote to the DoP or DIT (and possibly the zoom handle to the cameraman). That's a very important point. Make it modular.
Thanks.

Delivery schedule????????

Anybody gets answers if you e-mail to VF?

Or is the forum the only way to get in contact with Curt?

I really would like to know now!!!! when I can count with the Inclino/Impero...

Thank you,

Marc

We are taking this weekend to move to a new location and put together a solid schedule for you guys.

Another unkept promise. There's no schedule that I heard of, let alone a "solid" one...

WI expect to have all orders placed up to September of last year squared away in the next 2-3 weeks.

That's 1-2 weeks from now on. The clock is ticking...
