  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RPP case

Ketch, thanks. I picked up a Pelican 1520 in the meantime and managed to get 4 primes in it.
I'm so paranoid of tiny particles now. I'll probably put each lens in it's own bag.

Joseph,

Mitch is right, that is the worst possible way to carry lenses, especially larger ones.

I will terminate the carrying of Cine lenses in such a way, or any gear for that matter, when carrying the case all the weight will transfer to the last piece of gear on the bottom of the case in the carrying position, no good at all.

Each lens must be separated from each other, and most importantly each piece of gear must be supported by the separating elements, either Foam cores or anything soft and sturdy were no weight is transfer to the rest of the gear.

For what I have seen, the RED Case for the RPP's is the absolute best configuration, Jarred's personal case is even better.

Ketch,

Can you tell me about the LED lights pictured... what are they??? What is your application with them.

Thanks,
Prio

Carlos, those are the LED-Z MiniPars, they have only 9v of consuming power, 3v x 3, I use those for any application were I need to illuminate a small object or even as hair light, they are super small, and run on battery as well.

ciao

I've never really transported anything yet. I mostly did that setup just to have a place so dust doesn't collect. it's too heavy to carry 4 lenses anyway. I ended up with a 2 lens per case setup. very safe, secure, and lightweight.

a big thanks to you guys for your feedback. helped a lot.

There's something to be said for a good 'ol lens case. This is one of Keslow's lens cases... built by A&J Cases [fantastic company...]. There's enough space for a clamp-on matte box with accessories on the side... or a finder... or both!

It's smaller and lighter than RED's case, won't lead to thermal expansion or disappear at night, has more space and nicer foam [in my opinion] and costs less. I don't mean this as a shot against RED or their lens case... just as a generic "there are other options too!" post.

Brook, are you sure that one is A&J? There are a couple of bits that appear more the style of another manufacturer. A&J can make great cases as well, I'm just not positive this particular one is theirs.

Mine is a Calumet WT5102 Watertight Rolling Hard Case.

It fits all 5 RPP's perfectly standing up with room for the 18. I glued the pick and pluck together and added a layer of....what else, red velvet to keep the Pick and pluck from
falling apart on top

Total cost......198.65

sorry no pix but trust me. this case is awesome.
