Sorry if this has been posted, but does RedRushes support rending to the new ProRes Proxy or Prores LT?

I sure hope so. But after installing FinalCut 7 and installing the Final Cut studio 3 installer from RED, I do not see the option to render to Proxy or LT, just only HQ and SQ. :( Anybody know what's up with this?

Thanks.

aww common nobody? :banghead:

RR/RA has to be updated by RED to add the support for the new ProRes codecs.

I don't see them yet with a brand new install of the version on the website in REDrushes but I imagine it's coming soon.

Man what a bummer. Of course the show i'm working on right now wants to use the ProRes Proxy codec, and needs it at 1080, so for now I'm using compressor to encode the camera proxies to proRes (proxy) but this isn't great because i'm limited to the color of the camera proxies and I can't do a very sophisticated burn in to the files. I hope they release this update soon. :(

Well you could always RED Rush to ProRes HQ and then Compressor ProResHQ to ProRes Proxy. Though personally I don't see the point unless the guy's dying to cut off a laptop using a tiny hard drive. ProRes standard should be the way to go.

Maybe you should render out from the R3D files directly, via redline or clipfinder, as there you can refine the look and debayer quality much finer.

Clipfinder is an awesome tool, allowing to "stamp" looks on shots quite quickly and then even render out via a "poor man's renderfarm" option, which is actually very working...

Going out via the QT proxies into ProRez is probably one of the worst sollutions quality-wise. ProRez 4x4 will not help you much, if you continue to go this route.

New version coming soon with the new prores.

Why would you suggest to someone to recompress a compressed codec.
I would highly suggest you dont use this method.
Sure might be ok if its offline not important but I would not get into the habit of recompressing workflow like this.

Oh sorry- I was just suggesting a workaround due to there being no other simple way to do it as of this moment. R3D to ProResHQ to ProRes Proxy is really not going to yield a markedly different looking ProRes Proxy than R3D direct. They will both look pretty low res next to the R3D original, but both equally usable for offline and not much else.

It's just there's no other way to do what the OP wants without a workaround. So cut me some slack, ok. :cheers2:

ProRes proxy is specifically for an offline workflow, so in this case because they're not looking for impeccable image quality (just really low data rates), compressing twice is an easy fix until the new RR/RA is released.

Thanks Deanan for the update!

You did see I already mentioned Offline in what you quoted from me.
Either way I m just not in the favor of recompressing thats all.

And I'm not in favor of traffic, hangovers, rotoscoping, getting up early and other stuff but sometimes it's unavoidable.
