  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Hmmm, I liked the first teaser trailer of this film better...

First one was more mysterious, gave hints of a strange, original, dark, thought-ful science fiction.
In this trailer it looks more like an action science fiction with many stuff blowing up mixed with a bit of a 28 weeks later vibe (that movie I liked, though).

We'll see, I'm very curious about this movie, but still... liked the teaser trailer better from atmosphere point of view.
 
That's great! So looking forward to this one. I hope it retains some of that timing wizardry Blomkamp used in his short pieces. Even with a minimal story, the reflexive way of telling stories captivated thousands. I hope a full feature film will do the same with milions!
 
Very cool, I can't wait to see this but I wish there was an HD trailer somewhere. I saw this one a while back but it was also the artifacted low resolution version.

Majority was shot on RED Ones with Cooke S4s.

In addition we used EX1/EX3, Cineflex aerials, FLIR, Phantom HD and Canon AVCHD.

Further details in the upcoming American Cinematographer article with District 9 DoP Trent Opaloch.

Kodak release prints would explain the logo.

I recognize the :30 second mark as my old office building at Olympic and Bundy in West LA.

I saw a few guys there about 6 months ago, at the Quiznos, and we chatted about the RED and Cooke S4's. I wonder if they were the same guys working on this project.

Looks like it's going to be a cool movie. nice vfx too. congrats.
 
Oh yea, I use to work at a building right next to that building.
 
I'm trying to figure out how they masked the alien craft behind the trees in the opening shot so well. They would have had to go frame by frame... damn... nice.

I have to agree with Mathieu - I thought the teaser trailer was great, because it seemed more about probing earthling psychology and our response to imminent threat...more character-driven than plot-driven

...oh, shocker, we blow up everything that is feared for its difference...bring on the torches and pitchforks, Frankenstein is back with better technology.

...seems like the film veers into kind of a shallow direction from its initial promise...back to plot-driven, which is far less interesting to me, since we have seen it so many times. more psyche, less pyro, please...

I hope that the final product has more of the vibe of the first trailer and less than the second...

...having said all that -- the look and the work is phenomenal, and I'll definitely go see this.
