and started arguing the virtues of 8 vs. 10 bit, HDMI vs. SDI, etc. Like I said, all I really want, is a way to accurately and relatively cheaply display proper colors in front of me since I grade all of my work, even whatever I send to professional colorists down the line for a top pass, as a reference of what I want. The idea of the plasma really intrigues me, I hadn't thought of that, and yes, I'm sure that a properly calibrated plasma with HDMI would do what I need. Thing is, I set up my color monitor over my two workspace monitors, about 1 1/2 feet/45 cm from my eyes, and a 42" monstrosity would obliterate my field of vision that close to it. Yes, oddly, I am complaining about those plasmas being too big, so if I can find something in the 30-32" range, then I might go with it. The Dreamcolor does produce great results, but without the display port, it doesn't appear that you can take advantage of the very features that set it apart, so I might wait on it until I get a Quadro CX and that workflow is more widespread.
