  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RELEASED: RED ADOBE CS4 INSTALLER (v1.7.0)

Works great on my HP laptop. But on my Macbook Pro, the RED R3D options have disappeared from the Premiere sequence presets. I've updated to 4.1.

Did anyone figure this out?

The problem may be that I don't know how to properly uninstall the 1.3.0 plugin in OSX. (In Windows, it JUST WORKS!)

Just want to ditto the problem of not getting the Red sequence templates with the 1.7 plugin. This is a fresh install all around... no 1.3 here.

THanks

In fact, I just realized that I cannot see the sequence presets for XDCAM EX, XDCAM HD or AVCHD either. And all of those presets sit in the 'Sequencepresets' folder along with the Red R3D presets as well.

Actually, what I've found is that after installing the Red plugin 1.7 Premiere needs to update internally to see the new presets. And for this you just need to start a new project, and let it sit for a few minutes.

After a while, out of nowhere it will give you a message that it has some new features to install, and will ask you permission to 'update' these features. Just say yes, restart premiere and voilà, you got all the settings.

Enjoy,

Arnaud

You know what it is, and of course I didn't mention this... I think it's cuzz I've been using the trial version on Windows 7. It seems that the trial will not support outside templates and certain codecs.

I also can't use the RED presets. I can load RED footage and use all RED parameters but still no presets :(

I tried all the mentioned methods with no luck.
The only thing I can think of is that my system, is XP 64 and not Vista. Did any XP users got this to work? and if so can you please shed some light?
Also my processor is "only" 2.27 GHz and not 3, but it's the latest 8 core Nahalem stuff, and I got 2 of them so it should be enough...

Thanks

Thanks to Stepan Kment's post in this thread, there are instructions to get the CS4 installer to run in XP64:

1. Download Universal extractor from web. There are several sites from which one can download the program.

2. Open file REDCODE CS4 Win 1.7 with Universal extractor. As a result one should get folder REDCODE CS4 Win 1.7 including folders Adobe and Presets. Folder Presets has further subfolders.

3.Copy the contents of
...\RECODE CS4 Win 1.7\Presets\Settings
to
C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Pro CS4\Settings\

4. Copy files
...\RECODE CS4 Win 1.7\AdobeImporterRED
and
...\RECODE CS4 Win 1.7\AdobeImporterREDServer
to
C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Common\Plug-ins\CS4\MediaCore

5. If you have After Effects and the previous REDCODE CS4 Installer remember to remove REDSettingsPAL from
C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe After Effects CS4\Support Files\Plug-ins\Format\

6. Run Premiere Pro CS4 and After Effects and notice tears of joy.

Still no luck for me to see the sequence preset in premiere pro on macbook pro. When I look at the content of premiere pro App (Ver 4.1.0); the presets: R3D XDCAM EX et XDCAM HD are present.
Starting being suspicious, did someone succeed running that new version on a MacBook Pro?
Regards
Edit Problem solved, an old trial version was hanging around in my system. after uninstall and a fresh new install all is fine.

Windows Here:

Quad Core Notebook w/4GBS of Memory
Adobe CS 4.1.0 (No After Effects Install)
RED Plugin 1.7

Did everything right but clicking on SOURCE SETTINGS doesn't give me the option to change it from 4k to 2k or anything else. ONly getting a portion of the image in the viewer.

Uninstalled RED Plugin 1.7 and installed 1.3 and got the option to set 4k to Quarter etc,. But 1.7 won't do it.

Any thoughts>

Hey Guys,

I've been trying to figure something out. The RED installer V1.3 gives you the option to adjust the global settings for Debayer, Size, and a few other things. Similar to REDAlert's RENDER Menu, actually, which is awesome.

But I don't see the size adjustments with the new V1.7. Is there a new tutorial out on how to work with the new RED Premiere installer anywhere?

I'm really trying to make this Windows thing work out, but OSX's RED workflow is just so easy I may have to breakdown and return my Quad Core notebook and just go for a Dual Core MBP. =(

Hoping I can get a REDRushes style workflow going with Adobe!

guys,

I'm still unable to solve the -RED presets not appearing in Premiere- problem @&*$#^!

The RED R3D presets folder exists in the \SequencePresets\ Subfolder, along with AVCHD, XDCAM EX and XDCAM HD. but not in the preset window!!

does any one have a final solution for it?
I'm using Vista 64.

Hi...
Wanted to try out the R3D editing in Premiere Pro, But I don't get the RED Projekt settings when opening it. Doesn't this work with a try out version?
Downloaded and updated everything.
In After Effects it works...

Trial version does not work with Red importer. Not all codecs are installed in trial version.

But I can import R3D files and work with them, dropping into timeline, do the Raw settings.
Just the Sequence Presets for RED are missing in the Trial Version.
Can I work with custom settings?

Lauri and everyone else,

I am so thankful you posted this. The last part about "tears of joy" couldn't be more true...haha. It's great to have such a strong backup like the reduser community.

This fix is a life-saver for those of us still using XP.

For anyone else still struggling, this fix worked for me. Below are my computer's basic specs:

CPU: Quad Core 2.6 GHz
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Operating System: Windows XP (with Service Pack 3)

Again, thanks,

Yecid Jr.
